Texas Rangers Starting Pitcher Jack Leiter had an MLB debut that he would like to forget on Thursday afternoon. Leiter failed to make it through four innings (3.1) and surrendered eight earned runs on the road against the Detroit Tigers. Leiter surrendered four earned runs in the second inning and three in the fourth before he was given the hook. He is the No. 8-ranked overall prospect in Major League Baseball and was called up earlier this week.
Will Leiter be able to bounce back the next time he takes the mound?

Leiter was drafted second overall in the 2021 MLB Draft out of Vanderbilt University. Leiter has an MLB bloodline as he is the son of World Series-winning pitcher Al Leiter. The elder Leiter won three championships with the New York Yankees (1992, 1993, 1997). Al Leiter pitched for 19 years in Major League Baseball.
Jack Leiter had a rough stint in the minor leagues last season as he posted an ERA of 5.19. He got off to a much better start this season with a 3.77 ERA, which led to his call-up to the majors.
Texas Rangers 2024 Season Outlook
https://gty.im/2147887007
The defending World Series have gotten off to a 10-9 start and are first in the American League West. The Rangers are 10th in the league in runs scored and 11th in ERA. Texas has been inconsistent early in the 2024 season, unable to string together a series of good games. The Texas Rangers should be thrilled that ALCS MVP Adolis Garcia and World Series MVP Corey Seager have picked up where they left off last season. Seager is batting near .300 and Garcia is seventh in the league with 17 RBI.
The Texas Rangers are in prime position in 2024 to make a run at a second consecutive World Series, and Leiter will look to be a part of the team for years to come.
