Texas Rangers Sign 2-Time All Star In Latest Attempt To Improve Pitching

Texas Rangers

In the early stages of the baseball season, the Texas Rangers, struggling with pitching, recently signed two-time all-star Johnny Cueto. Johnny Cueto, who pitched for the Miami Marlins last year, had a 6.02 ERA with 52 innings pitched. While the veteran could do well in the bullpen, it might not do much for the struggling team.

The Rangers right now are dealing with pitching woes and injuries, and signing Cueto could help them. With the Rangers struggling right now, they need to add roster depth to stay ahead in the AL West. Texas divisional rivals are weak now except the Mariners, which has a better pitching staff.  If the Rangers keep struggling, they may lose the division and not even make the dance.

For the Rangers to improve, they must depend on Johnny Cueto to have some juice left in this career.

The Texas Rangers are struggling with their pitching, being ranked 22nd in pitching ERA. With their current starters struggling, the Rangers signed Johnny Cueto to a minor league deal. Cueto was an all-star twice in his career but has struggled with age, including last year. Johnny Cueto could provide the team with being an innings eater, even with his age.

Another reason the Rangers had signed Cueto is that he could provide the team in the bullpen. Even with not being a starter, Johnny Cueto could be a bullpen arm. Even with a decent bullpen, the Rangers could use Cueto as a long-pitching bullpen arm. With the Rangers losing pitchers to injury, they need Cueto to carry some of the load if he’s called up.

The Texas Rangers, in this World Series defense, could easily lose it with their waning pitching depth. While the Rangers are coming off a World Series win, two of their aces won’t be available until later this season. Along with the injuries, the Rangers pitching is struggling and needs help. Even with the bullpen doing well, they need more arms for the long season.

While the season is long, the Rangers’ divisional rivals could catch up to them quickly. The Seattle Mariners, right now, have a strong rotation and could easily catch up with the Rangers. Right now, the Mariners have a great chance to win the division, and while it’s still April, the rest of the AL West is struggling. While the season is still young, this could be a chance for the Mariners to win crucial games.

Final Thoughts

For the Rangers to improve, they must depend on Johnny Cueto to have some juice left in this career. The Texas Rangers right now are desperate for pitching and hope that Johnny Cueto could solve it. Even with a strong bullpen, the Rangers’ pitching is weaker with injuries and needs help now. The Rangers are a strong team but need help, or they will be done before the dog days of August.

While the season is long and it is April, Seattle is looking to be the healthier team in the American League West. If the Texas Rangers keep flailing on their pitching staff, it will get difficult for them to defend their title. Baseball is about momentum, and it could fall apart for the Rangers if they don’t get it together.
