Tennessee Titans DeAndre Hopkins Injures Knee; Out For Multiple Weeks

Tennessee Titans DeAndre Hopkins

The Tennessee Titans made many moves this offseason to improve their offense. They are trying to find out whether former second-round pick Will Levis is the quarterback of the future. Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard were signed in free agency and joined DeAndre Hopkins and Treylon Burks as the offensive weapons on the team. However, it seems the team may be without Hopkins for the beginning of the season. He injured his knee today and is expected to be out for at least a month.

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported DeAndre Hopkins injured his knee in practice on Thursday. While the injury doesn’t seem to be season-ending, it is going to keep the 32-year-old receiver out for four to six weeks. It is a huge blow to the Tennessee Titans offense. Hopkins has been one of the best receivers in the NFL over the past decade, and last season was no different.

He broke the 1,000-yard mark again in 2023 with 75 receptions, 1,057 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. There is still a chance he could return for week 1 against the Chicago Bears on September 8th. If the injury heals up in four weeks, he could be good to go. However, expect the Tennesee Titans to be cautious with their All-Pro receiver. There is no sense in rushing him back when he isn’t ready.

Who Steps Up?

In the absence of DeAndre Hopkins, former first-round pick Treylon Burks will likely get more opportunities. He has been a disappointment in his first two years in the league. In two years, he has only caught 49 passes for 665 yards and one touchdown. Part of his lack of production has been due to injuries, but he also hasn’t played well on the field. He will now get a chance to prove himself yet again.

This is a huge blow for quarterback Will Levis. Hopkins makes a lot of quarterbacks look good. He is known for having some of the best hands in the league. Levis could have thrown many inaccurate balls, but Hopkins could have come down with them. The hope is he can make a full recovery and be back for most of the season.

Final Thoughts

The Tennessee Titans are slated to be one of the worst teams in the NFL. However, their offense could be one of the more difficult to stop if Levis can make a second-year jump. There are some questions about the defense, but overall, this team should be fun to watch this season. The AFC South is always difficult to predict, but the other three teams are looking to take the crown.

Injuries are the worst part of sports. Many talented players have been lost to injuries over the years. The hope is DeAndre Hopkins can come back and have another dominant season in the NFL.
