Team India’s Players Get How Much From BCCI’s Rs. 125 Crore Prize

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has granted a cash reward of Rs 125 crore to Team India’s players, coaches, support staff, and top selection committee members for winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. But who will receive how much?

The majority of the award would be divided among the players and head coach Rahul Dravid. The 15 core will be divided into team members. It includes those who did not play a single match, as well as Dravid, who would each receive Rs 5 crore.

Team India’s successful T20 World Cup 2024 campaign won Rohit Sharma’s team a nice award of Rs. 125 crore. A 42-member team traveled to the United States and the West Indies for the global cricket event, including 15 first-team players, support personnel, and reserves.

The Rs. 125 crore prize money announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be awarded not just to players, but also to support personnel, and reserves. And others who made up the 42-member delegation. However, the award money distribution differs by job.

According to a report, the 15 members of Team India, even those who did not play a single game, would receive Rs. 5 crore. Even head coach Rahul Dravid will receive Rs. 5 crore from the pool.

Detailed Breakdown of Money Distribution

Dravid’s coaching crew, which includes batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach T Dilip, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, are all paid Rs. 2.5 crore apiece. 

The selection committee members, including head Ajit Agarkar, will each receive Rs. 1 crore. The three physiotherapists, three throwdown experts, two masseurs, and the strength and conditioning coach will all earn Rs 2 crore.

“Team India and support staff have been informed about the amount of prize money they will be receiving from the BCCI and we have asked everyone to submit an invoice,” a person familiar with the matter revealed.

Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were the three members of the main team who did not play a single match.

The five-member senior selection committee, chaired by Ajit Agarkar, will each receive Rs 1 crore. In addition to the 15-member T20 World Cup roster, the BCCI selection committee picked four reserve players.

They were Rinku Singh, Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed. They will also receive a prize of INR 1 crore apiece. Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated: “The Rs 125 crore would include the players, support personnel, coaches, and selectors as well. Everyone.”

Following Team India’s return, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde offered a Rs 11 crore financial incentive for the squad.

According to the source, the Indian contingent for the 2024 T20 World Cup consisted of 42 persons. Aside from players, coaches, support staff, and selectors, the video analyst, BCCI employees, media officers, and logistics manager will all be awarded.

India won the T20 World Cup 2024 without losing a single match, defeating South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on June 29th. 

Historical Context of Indian Prize Money

In 2013, when Team India won the Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni’s leadership, the BCCI gave each player Rs 1 crore and each support staff member Rs 30 lakh. 

In 2011, after winning the 50-over World Cup, players were paid Rs 1 crore apiece, which was later upped to Rs 2 crore, while support personnel earned Rs 50 lakh and selectors received Rs 25 lakh. 

After the 2007 T20 World Cup victory, the team won Rs 12 crore. When Team India won their first World Cup in 1983, the BCCI ran out of funds for prizes, forcing Lata Mangeshkar to organize a performance to benefit the players.
