The Danish coach has announced his full squad, Team Denmark, for the upcoming Euro 2024 competition this summer. Although the Danish isn’t necessarily a team that many people have to be ‘scared of’ in this upcoming Euros, they can still play aesthetic football, use their creative skills to shock other items and utilize their great cardio and midfield engines to run the game.
High-level players like Eriksen will be the heart of the Danish team, helping the youngsters find their footing and make a mark on the Euros that we may have not seen in previous years. Team Denmark will hope to recreate the success they found 22 years ago in the same competition with this talented squad.
Team Denmark Defenders
Some of the most talented defenders from all over the world are on full display for the Denmark Euro 2024 squad, including Simon Kjae from AC Milan, Andreas Christensen from Barcelona, Joakim Maehle from Wolfsburg, Jannik Vestergaard from Leicester City, Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace, Rasmus Kristensen from Roma, and Victor Nelsson from Galatasaray.
The defenders come from various domestic leagues, with a few Premier League stand-outs like Andersen and Vestergaard not only big players for their country but for their respective club teams. Only one player from the Turkish Super Lig, Nelsson, made it onto the squad, showing his form even in a subpar league that is not up to the same standard as the EPL.
Other defenders who will play a major role in the tournament for Team Denmark include Maehle from Wolfsburg and Kristensen from AS Roma in the Italian league.
Team Denmark Midfielders
The midfield is where the majority of the work is done both on and off the ball, as these players need to put together creative combinations, find the forward’s feet so they can score, and break up attacks through the middle of the field so the opposing team comes away scoreless.
Cristian Eriksen from Manchester United will be the heart and soul of the Danish team going into the tournament, as the veteran is one of the most experienced international players in the entire competition.
Other key players for Team Denmark include Thomas Delaney from Anderlecht, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham, Mathias Jensen from Brentford, Cristian Norgaard from Brentford, and Morten Hjulmand from Sporting Lisbon. The coach could pair Norgaard and Jensen together since they both have experience combining at Brentford, something that would lend itself to the cohesiveness of the midfield unit in the early games.
Team Denmark Attackers
Last but not least, the attackers are where Denmark can look to score all of their goals. Some of the key forwards and images for Team Denmark include Mikkel Damsgaard, another Brentford player, Kasper Dolberg from Anderlecht, Yussuf Poulsen from RB Leipzig, Andreas Skov Olsen from Club Brugge, Rasmus Holland from Manchester United, and Anders Dreyer from Anderlecht.
The Danish forward line is missing many players from the Premier League, La Liga, or Ligue 1, showing how this team chooses individuals from the Dutch top league, German Bundesliga, or the Portuguese Premier League. We think that Hojlund can help carry the team with his EPL experience. Anders Dreyer and Dolberg can also link up well together since they both play club football for Anderlecht.
