Tampa Bay Buccaneers Continuous Injury Problem

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers go into week 3 2-0 and will face the 0-2 Denver Broncos. Since training camp, the Bucs have been dealing with injuries on both sides of the ball. Even though the Bucs have been dealing with injuries, they have still found a way to win. Last week, in the 20-16 win against the Detroit Lions, Bucs defensive lineman Vita Vea went out with a knee injury. How long can the Tampa Bay Buccaneers deal with the injury situations and continue to win games?

Because of injuries, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had some valuable players who have not started the season yet. The Bucs have one of the league’s youngest teams, with nine rookies. Many of their practice and backup players are from past drafts who have been working their way up from the practice squad. With plenty of young players at their disposal and giving them more snaps to develop,  the Buccaneers still have to sign players to fill vacancy spots on the team.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without three defensive players and two offensive players for Sunday at Raymond James Stadium against the Broncos. Bucs defensive lineman Calijah Kancey has yet to start the season due to a calf injury and will not be starting for the team. Vita Vea, the Bucs’ veteran defensive lineman, will also be out for Sunday’s game with a knee issue. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary will be without safety Antoine Winfield Jr. with a foot injury.

Offensive lineman Luke Goedeke will miss his second game of the season due to a concussion. Bucs rookie wide receiver Kameron Johnson will also miss the game against the mile-high team with an ankle issue he has been dealing with since training camp. Another offensive player dealing with an injury issue is running back Rachaad White with a groin situation he suffered last week in the Lions game. White is set to start, but one wonders how many snaps he will take. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have running back rookie Bucky Irving as backup and could see more of the snaps on Sunday.

Bucs Add Aid To Roster

Two players from the practice squad have stepped up to fill in for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the past two weeks. Defensive players C.J. Brewer and Mike Greene were signed to the Bucs’ main roster this week. With defensive lineman Logan Hall questionable for Sunday’s game, the Buccaneers want to secure spots on the defensive line.

The Bucs re-signed defensive back Keenan Issac after the Carolina Panthers waived him. Issac is familiar with the Bucs’ defense since he spent training camp and played in preseason games for the Bucs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released the undrafted cornerback to shrink the roster from 91 to 53 before the start of the season. With a shortage in the secondary, adding a familiar face to the defense might help the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Final Thought

Can the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pull out another win with an injury-hackled roster, or will the young players the Bucs have put in place step up and make plays when needed? Whatever the Bucs have planned, it isn’t like the Denver Broncos are a high-powered team that will drive the score up. However, they do have a rookie quarterback, Bo Nix, who is looking to make his mark on the league.
