Indian Team Meeting with PM Modi

The team landed in New Delhi early Thursday morning, delayed by bad weather in Barbados. The day’s events included a visit to PM Modi’s residence, marking a memorable conclusion to the team’s journey from the T20 World Cup victory to a warm reception back in Mumbai. They visited PM Modi’s residence, where they stayed until 1 PM, engaging in a relaxed conversation with him. The  Indian team arrived in New Delhi early Thursday. Their return was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl, which caused a temporary shutdown on the island.

The players, coaches, and top officials of the BCCI proceeded to meet PM Modi wearing these special jerseys. Family members stayed at the hotel during this official visit of the players and others. During the celebration, Suryakumar Yadav’s 7-year-old tweet resurfaced. In 2017, he had tweeted:

Thank you, sir Narendra Modi Ji for this step. I am very happy to be a part of Swachh Bharat. I may take a selfie someday in real life if I get lucky.

This seven-year-old tweet circulated during the meeting with PM. Because he said that he wants to take a selfie with PM if he is so lucky. Now he takes a picture with PM. His dream of taking a picture with PM was fulfilled today. The team’s journey was closely followed by the media, capturing moments of joy and celebration. Suryakumar Yadav, known for his match-winning catch in the final, and Mohammed Siraj, who expressed gratitude with flying kisses, were among the most animated in responding to the crowd.

BCCI president Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah presented PM, Modi, with a special ‘NAMO’ India jersey during the meeting at 7. The team, including head coach Rahul Dravid, showed the T20 World Cup trophy to PM Modi and expressed their gratitude. The players, visibly tired but elated, interacted with the waiting fans, expressing gratitude and sharing smiles.

The triumphant Indian Cricket Team met with the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modiji, at his official residence today upon arrival. Sir, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for your inspiring words and the invaluable support you have provided to Team India.

After meeting PM Modi, the team headed to Mumbai for a victory parade from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium, where a small felicitation ceremony took place. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who was present in Barbados for the final, will distribute the Rs 125 crore cash prize to the Indian team for winning their first ICC trophy in over a decade.
