At the back of their stunning top-order, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 of the IPL edition 2024, becoming the finalists of the session where they will be contesting against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
And with this massive win in Qualifier 2, Sunrisers Hyderabad now aim for the top-tier showdown against Kolkata Knight Riders in the final of IPL 2024. This is particularly so as the final of the IPL draws nearer and the players at SRH are eager to play their best in order to clinch the IPL title.
Skipper Pat Cummins Reflects on the Victory

As stated earlier, after the match, SRH captain Pat Cummins seemed to be really happy with the effort that the team put in and was especially full of praise for the spinners for their performance. However, Cummins appreciated the efforts made by Abhishek and Shahbaz and specifically mentioned that they were the main pillars of the team’s success and had played their part in clinching the victory.
With marked confidence and expectations, Cummins communicated to the team how they were looking forward to the final against KKR with the intention of becoming the champion.

SRH’s Redemption: From Defeat to Victory

While they lost a crunch match against KKR in Qualifier 1, SRH demonstrated a great deal of character to come back strongly in the second qualifier against the RCB, where they bowled magnificently to handily beat the Royals and book a place in the finals’ stage of their season. It was the 2016 IPL champions that were seen with a lot of authority, especially in the manner in which they bowled their way for a big win over Rajasthan.
Displaying great form in bowling impedes the RR
In an attempt to achieve a challenging target of 175 set by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the Rajasthan Royals (RR) struggled against a HOCKING bowling line-up including Shaun Tait and Sreesanth. However, the SRH batsmen punished the RR bowlers and posted a competitive target on the board, which was difficult for the RR batsmen to chase.
Nevertheless, the S R H spin bowling duo of Shahbaz Ahmad and Abhishek Sharma were truly the pick of the match. Taking advantage of the situation and coming up with brainy twists and turns, the spinners managed to destabilize RR’s batting order by taking wickets regularly, thus ensuring they sbattered to a small total of 139/7.
Abhishek and Shahbaz emerged as the most skilled bowlers for Nitesh, while their line and length prevented the batsmen of RR from going gung-ho. Its use of turn and bounce from the pitch was a problem for the opposing team, as several of the important wickets hauled by the team were spin bowlers. Combined, they might have brought out the best of both bowler and fielder, as was evident by their performance.
Where they contributed to curtailing the RR innings and forging the win for SRH. This fact speaks volumes about the fact that spin bowling is a key weapon in the T20 format of the game and extremely helpful to the cause of SRH, as evident from their spirited show in the match under consideration.
