Sun Seeking To Snap Two-Game Losing Streak
The Connecticut Sun got off to a hot start, posting 13 wins across their first 14 games. However, the team has hit a recent mini-slump, dropping each of their last two contests. This includes an 85-74 loss against the Las Vegas Aces and a 72-61 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Storm.
In the 11-point loss to Seattle, Alyssa Thomas paced the team’s offense with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field. She also tallied 14 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocked shots. Brionna Jones added 14 points and five boards on 5-of-13 shooting from the floor and a 4-of-6 effort from the free throw line.
After jumping out to a six-point advantage after the first quarter, Connecticut was outscored in each of the next three quarters en route to the team’s second straight loss. Furthermore, the Suns shot just 37.3 percent from the field and missed 12 of their 14 attempts from beyond the arc.
Dream Looking To Snap Three-Game Losing Streak
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream has been having a rough time lately. After producing five wins through their first nine games, the Dream have dropped five of their last six contests. During that stretch, they have suffered losses to the Minnesota Lynx (68-55), Indiana Fever (91-79), and the New York Liberty (96-75). Talk about a tough stretch.
In their recent loss, the Dream trailed by 11 points after the first quarter and by a 62-38 lead at the break and failed to make a game of it the rest of the way. Tina Charles scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. Cheyenne Parker-Tyus added 10 points and three rebounds off the bench.
Unfortunately, no other player scored in double figures for a Dream squad that 38 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from three-point range. The Dream is ranked last in both scoring offense (75.9 PPG) and efficiency (allowing 97.3 points per 100 possessions.
With that in mind, can the Dream generate enough scoring against a Connecticut squad that has the best scoring defense (71.7 PPG) and the best defensive rating (allowing 94.9 points per 100 possessions) in the association, or are they headed for another nightmarish loss?
