After last night’s 105-104 loss to the 76ers, the Miami Heat suffered a major blow towards their NBA Playoffs push. Jimmy Butler will not play for the Miami Heat for several weeks. Miami had a rough season like they did last year, but this time, they may be going into the playoffs without their star player.
The Extent of Jimmy Butler’s Injury
Jimmy Butler played 40 minutes in last night’s game with a sprained MCL. The Miami Heat star has had a tough season. He had a death in the family that made him miss some time. Then, his return was short as he was suspended because of a fight with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Shams Charania reported the sprained MCL injury late last night. Jimmy Butler is expected to be out for an indefinite amount of time.
How Will This Affect The Miami Heat?
The Miami Heat are seeking to return to the NBA Finals for the third time in five seasons. Last year, they were the first team to make it to the NBA Finals as a play-in team. They lost to the Denver Nuggets 4-1 in the finals, but it was a miraculous run from one of the toughest teams in the Eastern Conference. Before last year, they lost to the Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals.
Miami now has another uphill battle, seeking a fourth NBA Championship. They will play the Chicago Bulls tomorrow night. The Miami Heat knocked off the Bulls last year in the final play-in game. Chicago will look to avenge their loss to Miami.
The Bulls decimated the Atlanta Hawks last night thanks to a career-high 42 points from Coby White in their 131-116 win. Chicago also has its own injury bug going into tomorrow’s game. They might be without Alex Caruso, who suffered a left ankle sprain in the Hawks game. Andre Drummond stepped on Caruso’s left foot during the second quarter.
Terry Rozier was ruled out of the 76ers game with some neck issues. It’s unknown if he’ll also play in tomorrow’s game against Chicago.
The Miami Heat has had legendary playoff runs thanks to Butler’s play in the playoffs. Heat fans joke about how Butler plays average in the regular season just to be charged up and dominate in the playoffs. Miami will be without their leader for tomorrow’s game and possibly for the extent of the playoffs.
