SmackDown Preview: WWE on Fox Finale | 9/5/2024

WWE SmackDown Review

The Fox finale on Friday will be broadcast live from Edmonton, Alberta at Rogers Place. More specifically, the final SmackDown on Fox before the program moves to the USA network starting on September 13th. Advertised is a hefty eight-man tag team match, the debut of a former Raw superstar, and the appearance of the Undisputed WWE Champion to answer the most recent challenge.

8-Man SmackDown

SmackDown on the Fox Network’s finale is already set to unleash destruction by giving us an 8-man tag team match between The Bloodline versus DIY and The Street Profits. The action in this one should be high-flying from the faces’ side and maybe a bit slower and more brutal from The Bloodline side. If DIY and The Street Profits work together, they may have a chance for an upset. The Bloodline’s numbers game often proves too much for their opponents. The athleticism of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford combined with DIY’s teamwork could change this, however.

Ciao to SmackDown, even though it’s a Finale

Giovanni Vinci will make his long-awaited debut on SmackDown, after having been featured in videos announcing his return. Long awaited? Perhaps. WWE has been building him up through these vids like a new superstar and presenting him as a top player. But is he?

In Vinci’s last run with Imperium, a match had to be stopped because he took a hard shot to the face, and then he suffered subsequent losses after he recovered from the real injury.  Vinci was last seen getting the snot beat out of him by Ludwig Kaiser after failing the group for the last time. Kaiser could not take it anymore and disposed of Vinci from Raw. An act that has not been addressed or avenged. It will be interesting to see if Vinci mentions this and interesting to see what WWE does with his character on Friday’s show.

Cody Rhodes to Address Solo Sikoa

The Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes will answer the threat from Solo Sikoa from last week. Sikoa stated that he didn’t care who won at Bash in Berlin, as he would be the next challenger for the most prestigious title in all of wrestling. There likely will not be a match for the belt on this episode, instead setting up the bout for next week’s big debut of SmackDown on the USA Network. Still, WWE could surprise us and show the match as a main event and a parting gift for the Fox faithful.

Predictions

The Bloodline vs. DIY and The Street Profits: Again Sikoa and his crew will be too much for DIY and The Street Profits. The Bloodline seems to always win the numbers game and they will in this 8-man tag.  It should be a fun match and perhaps we could get a crazy upset? Nah…Gargano gets pinned.

Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes: There is not a match between these two advertised, but look for the feud to continue, perhaps setting up a match for down the line at the next PLE in Atlanta called Bad Blood. The perfect feud for that show.
