Shohei Ohtani On Spectacular Run During 2024 Season

The Los Angeles Dodgers Edman

Los Angeles Dodgers Designated Hitter Shohei Ohtani continued his red-hot stretch in June this afternoon. He went 1-of-3 with a solo home run on Thursday as Los Angeles defeated the Colorado Rockies 5-3. Ohtani has gone yard six times in his last 10 games.

His hot streak began against the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers last week when he homered in back-to-back games. He then hit two homers on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals and homered in two of the four games this week on the road against the Colorado Rockies.

Ohtani is hitting .318 this season with 21 home runs and 53 RBI. He is fourth in the league in batting average, third in home runs, and eighth in RBI. Will Shohei Ohtani be able to continue his stellar streak at the dish?

Shohei Ohtani will be unable to pitch this season after injuring his elbow ligament. Even with the inability to do half of what he normally does, Ohtani is one of the most feared hitters in Major League Baseball. This is Ohtani’s first year with the Los Angeles Dodgers as he signed a lucrative 10-year $700 million contract during the 2024 MLB Offseason.

He won the American League Rookie of The Year in 2018 and is a two-time American League MVP(2021, 2023). Ohtani is also a three-time All-Star(2021-23) and a two-time Silver Slugger winner(2021, 2023). The Japanese phenom also finished fourth in the American League CY Young voting in 2022. Justin Verlander of the Houston Astros would go on to win the CY Young Award that season.

Shohei Ohtani is a career .279 hitter with 192 home runs and 490 RBI. On the mound, he is 38-19 with an ERA of 3.01.

The Dodgers(47-30) hold a massive nine-game lead in the National League West and have the fifth-best record in all of baseball. The Philadelphia Phillies are the only National League team with a better record than Los Angeles.

Los Angeles has boasted one of the best offenses in the league in 2024. They are third in batting average, third in home runs, and are tied for the league lead in runs scored. Their offense is led by Shortstop Mookie Betts and First Baseman Freddie Freeman. Betts is 10th in the league in batting average while Freeman is 12th.

The Los Angeles pitching staff has also been stellar this season. They are fourth in ERA, fourth in strikeouts, and tied for the league lead in opposing batting average. Starting Pitcher Gavin Stone leads the team with eight while Starting Pitcher Tyler Glasnow leads the league in strikeouts and is second in WHIP.

Dodgers Upcoming Schedule

Los Angeles hosts the Los Angeles Angels for a rare two-game set on Friday. Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers are in prime position for another deep playoff run this year as they chase their first World Series since 2020. They have one of the most talented rosters in the league, and with Shohei Ohtani heating up, the sky is truly the limit for the 2024 Los Angeles Dodgers.
