Cricket fans have been left shocked by the recent declaration of the English cricket fast bowler, James Anderson, that is retiring. The pace bowling spearhead Anderson, well recognized for his record-breaking performances and excellent career statistics, has reportedly resigned from international cricket after a meeting with England’s staff. This has upset many people especially the Australian spinner Nathan Lyon who continues to vouch for Anderson.
England Cricket Stunned by James Anderson’s Retirement Announcement
England’s legendary fast bowler James Anderson, who broke through the bullish record of the cricket world with fast bowling, has resigned from international cricket. The veteran player came out with the announcement after he had a sit-down with England management insisting on forming a new team for future tournaments. This news has surprised many and one such person who is still fully trusting in Anderson and his abilities is Australian spinner, Nathan Lyon.
Anderson himself touted a very impressive record in guitar competitions. Sir Ian Botham, or “Beef” as he is fondly known, has stood his record higher by taking 563 wickets for England, thus making him a legend. He has remained a formidable force when batting against his favoured opponents, especially against the Australians and more specifically against Lyon whom he has faced a record 22 Test matches during the Ashes series. It is unarguably a big change to the English style of cricket as was the retirement of Anderson.

These are the words of Australian cricket team spinner Nathan Lyon who was shocked when he heard about Anderson’s retirement. That is why these two bowlers, despite they belong to different teams, have developed quite friendly relations based on, one more time, competitions. Upon receiving this piece of news, Lyon showed his immense love for the English legend in James.
In his own opinion, Lyon Down Under admits that; “[t]o my mind Anderson remains England’s best bowler despite his lack of experience and output”. Here, he pointed out several of accomplishments in his career, noting that he has made a gargantuan contribution to the game. Notably, it is in the face of this backdrop that these two cricketing giants might be able to face off for the last time. Lyon can be signed by Lancashire County Cricket Club before Anderson retiring from Test cricket, which will provide the possibility for both players to play together as companions in the end.
