Shakib Al Hasan Sets Great Record For Bangladesh

Shakib Al Hasan Makes History: Oldest Bangladeshi Test Player

Shakib Al Hasan, an aging all-rounder, made cricket history on Saturday by being the oldest player from Bangladesh to participate in a Test match. Shakib broke the previous record set by left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique, who was 37 years and 180 days old when he played his last Test match in 2008. On the third day of Bangladesh’s first Test match against India in Chennai, he entered the field.

With this accomplishment, Shakib, who has been a key player in Bangladeshi cricket for more than ten years, adds yet another honor to his remarkable career. Shakib Al Hasan, who is recognized as one of the best all-rounders in the game, has made a significant impact on Bangladeshi cricket with his longevity. His expertise is still a valuable resource for the squad, particularly in difficult matches like the current Test against India.

Shakib Al Hasan’s Lasting Impact

With this most recent accomplishment, Shakib Al Hasan—a key player in Bangladeshi cricket for almost ten years—continues to add to his remarkable career. Generally acknowledged as one of the best all-around players in the game, he has been a vital member of the squad for a long time. Shakib Al Hasan’s accomplishment is noteworthy, but Wilfred Rhodes of England holds the distinction of being the oldest Test cricket player ever. He played his last match in 1930 at the age of 52 years and 165 days.

Combined with his incredible 30-year Test career, Rhodes’ record is one of cricket’s most enduring achievements. In the first Test match at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, Bangladesh is likely to suffer a crushing loss to India. The series was won 2-0 by the Tigers, who had an amazing performance in Pakistan. They arrived in India full of expectation to pull off a stunning shock, but they soon had a harsh reality check.

With Ashwin getting 113 and Ravindra Jadeja reaching 86, Bangladesh kept India at 144/6 in the first innings, but they were still able to record 376. The Tigers crumbled for 149 because Jasprit Bumrah was too hot to handle at the bat. Big guns like Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Litton Das were needed to keep Bangladesh competitive. But they were all unable to have a major effect in the opening innings, which caused Bangladesh to fall behind greatly in the Test.

In the first inning, Shakib bowled just eight overs and gave up fifty runs. 32 runs were scored by him at bat. To make apologies, Shakib Al Hasan will now want to play a solid knock in the second innings and perhaps force a draw for Bangladesh. On the field, though, Bangladesh was up against a formidable Indian team and found themselves in a difficult situation. On Day 3, India roared to 141 for 3 after 40 overs, stretching their lead to over 350 runs.

Shubman Gill led the charge with his seventh Test fifty, and Rishabh Pant was crawling toward his 12th fifty. Bangladesh’s batting order was severely damaged earlier on Day 2 by India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed 4 for 50 as the visitors were bowled out for just 149 in their opening innings. Bangladesh failed to muster a significant response to India’s formidable first-inning total, despite the efforts of seasoned players like Shakib Al Hasan (32) and wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das (22).
