Shahid Afridi talks about the Pakistan cricket team for the 2024 T20 World Cup, with the young guns sharing the side with experienced players and Babar Azam as their captain. The team that reached the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup had a poor showing in the 2023 ODI World Cup, which led to changes in the leadership.
Following this, Babar Azam was given the captaincy back for the next tournament after a few matches under the leadership of Shaheen Afridi.

Ex-Pakistan cricket team skipper Shahid Afridi has recently come down heavily on a certain player’s fitness in the squad for the T20 World Cup that is to take place in the year 2024. The person in focus is Azam Khan, who is a Pakistani cricketer and also the son of former cricketer Moin Khan. It has recently come under controversy over his health issues, which the former cricketer, Shahid Afridi, feared could affect his performance on the field.
Shahid Afridi, who is not afraid of saying things as they are, stressed that fitness is a critical aspect of cricket. He stated that fitness cannot be seen as a factor of preparation but rather as an element that defines every aspect of a player.
“Fitness is the key,” Shahid Afridi stressed while talking to reporters. “Fitness is very important, and body language can be seen on the field whether one is batting, bowling or even fielding. ”

Shahid Afridi’s Harsh Stance
Shahid Afridi’s criticism was particularly vehement.
”I would never allow Azam Khan to come even close to the team as far as fitness is concerned,” he said. Even though Shahid Afridi understood Khan’s strength and the fact that he knew how to hit well, he emphasized the importance of not underestimating the aspect of fitness.
“I too have praised him. He is strong and well built and can hit the ball well; he has played some good knocks in the West Indies,” Afridi said, but again and again stressed that fitness is the key issue when it comes to selecting the players.

In light of this, as Pakistan sets its sights on the T20 World Cup, the importance of fitness and performance cannot be overemphasized. This can be seen by the fact that Shahid Afridi’s comments show that to be able to represent a country, players must always ensure that they are fit. Babar Azam will have a team that consists of both experienced and new players, and the team will be more determined to give their best and try to perform well in the forthcoming 2024 T20 World Cup.
