Seattle Seahawks and Quarterback Geno Smith ended the regular season on a great note earlier today on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. Seattle defeated the Rams 30-25 to send Los Angeles down to the No. 4 seed in the NFL Playoffs. Smith was 20-of-27 today for 223 passing yards and tossed a career-high 4 passing touchdowns. Smith also made himself a boatload of money with his stellar performance both today and over the breadth of the regular season.
He made $6 million today by hitting his incentives in completion percentage, wins, and passing yards. Smith finished the regular season with 4,320 passing yards, 21 passing touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Will he and the Seattle Seahawks be able to improve this offseason as they look to set themselves up for a return to the NFL Playoffs?

Seattle(10-7) missed out on the NFL Playoffs to the Los Angeles Rams. Even though the teams finished with the same regular season record, Los Angeles won the NFC West on a strength of victory tiebreaker over the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks had a middling offense this year as they were 15th in total yards per game and 19th in points scored.
Seattle’s defense was also middling this season. They were 14th in yards allowed and 11th in points allowed. Seattle was a mediocre team this season as the statistics suggested, and they struggled against the upper-echelon teams in the National Football League. They were 2-5 against playoff teams this year.
Final Thoughts
Seattle has many positives to build on from the regular season. Smith enters the final season of his three-year contract next season and will be reportedly looking for a contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason.
Only time will tell if Smith has done enough this season to earn another few years with the team. The Seahawks will pick 18th in April’s NFL Draft, and some areas they should look at are on the offensive line and adding another few pieces for the defense. Smith had a career day Sunday, but with no playoffs hanging in the balance, it was ultimately in a meaningless game.
