It has been a week of upheaval for the Seattle Seahawks as they remade their roster. It began with them releasing Defensive Tackle Roy Robertson-Harris, Safety Rayshawn Jenkins, Offensive Tackle George Fant, and Defensive Tackle Dre’Mont Jones.
Seattle then announced they would release Wide Receiver Tyler Lockett. All of this led to Wide Receiver DK Metcalf requesting a trade from the organization on Wednesday. Metcalf has seemingly not completely shut the door on playing in Seattle as the team traded Quarterback Geno Smith late last night. The star wide receiver will reportedly wait to see what the team does at the quarterback position before deciding if he wants to return to the squad for 2025. Will the Seattle Seahawks find a suitable option at QB to retain Metcalf’s services?

Even though the Seahawks’ recent moves left their roster with massive holes, they must find a solution at the quarterback position before anything else. The Smith trade shocked the NFL as many people believed Smith and the Seahawks would come to terms on a long-term contract extension this season.
According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, contract talks between Smith and the Seahawks broke down. That led to the team opting to send Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. With Smith no longer an option at quarterback, the Seattle Seahawks have turned their attention to Sam Darnold according to various reports. Another possibility for the team is Daniel Jones.
Final Thoughts
It remains unclear what quarterback would lead to Metcalf removing his trade request. Hopefully, the team has a plan for the quarterback position. Otherwise, it will be a puzzling offseason where the team got worse at all levels.
