Sean O’Malley Insults Conor McGregor: ‘He’s a Dork’

Sean O'Malley Insults Conor McGregor

Sean O’Malley is going to fight the No. 1 challenger right now, Merab Dvalishvili in UFC 306.  He is looking forward to fighting great fighters like Merab and Umar Nurmagomedov. Umar is an undefeated fighter who will be a huge problem for Sean. However, for now, O’Malley is looking forward to and focusing on Merab Dvalishvili. The fighter has a long history with UFC and in his initial stages, he looked up to the famous UFC champion known famously for his rivalry against Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor.

Sean has always admired and appreciated Conor, but recently McGregor noticed O’Malley and the reaction was not respectful. However, the former remained respectful and still claimed that Conor was a good fighter. Let’s dive into the story to find out why the Bantamweight champion turned red against the former Lightweight champ.

O’Malley mentioned McGregor while addressing the press ahead of his bantamweight title defense bout at UFC 306 on September 14 at the Sphere in Las Vegas. He will be up against the No. 1 contender Merab Dvalishvili. In an ESPN interview about his victory through the knockout of Aljamain Sterling who is the friend of the upcoming challenger at UFC 292 in August 2023, O’Malley was asked how close he was to becoming the top fighter in the UFC. The sleek fighter, who has a stylish look, was quick to point out that it is difficult to claim it due to the impact on PPV sales.

He feels he could become a big star if things go as he wants them to go. He admitted that Conor is on the top now but he doesn’t deserve that and soon he will take what he deserves. He stated, “Right now it’s Conor McGregor, 100 percent. He’s a dork, but it’s the truth. For me to get to that, I need to go out there and knock out Merab, I go up to 145 pounds, I beat Ilia Topuria, I beat Max Holloway, I beat Umar Nurmagomedov, I’m three fights away from being one of the greatest of all-time, one of the most exciting of all-time. There’s a difference.”

Appreciating Khabib Nurmagomedov

Sean O’Malley targeted the skills of Conor McGregor and claimed that people also don’t consider him the top fighter because of his lack of moves and skills, “No one thinks Conor’s the greatest fighter of all time. He lacked skills, lacked title defenses, but entertainment-wise, he’s the best in the world. Entertainment-wise, he was the best.”

Sean O’Malley appreciated great fighters, including the famous rival of Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov. “The greatest fighter of all time Jon Jones, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev, all up there. I want to be both. I want to be one of the greatest of all time and one of the most entertaining of all time. That’s my goal.”

Final Thought

Sean O’Malley is a great fighter and he has been performing very well against the challengers and has a long streak. His fight against Umar Nurmagomedov will be an interesting fight to watch because Umar is a student of Khabib. Will it be a difficult match for Sean O’Malley?
