Two of the biggest players in the Premier League might make the move to another team – -and not just another team, another country. The Saudi Pro League has been grabbing up some of the most promising young players in leagues across the world, along with aging veterans who want to make the big bucks before they retire.
But, in some cases, players are enticed to go to Saudi Pro League while they are in the prime of their careers. That can be said for N’golo Kante who went to Saudi Arabia from Chelsea, only to get recalled back into the French squad for the Euros. Other Players followed suit, surprising Premier League managers and players alike. And, the same thing could happen again to two huge attackers and wingers in the Prem before the next season begins.
Saudi Pro League Could Get Richarlison and Jesus
Al-Ahli is supposedly ‘eyeing’ Richarlison and Jesus to come to their team to bolster their attacking option and increase the likelihood of them making the top three this year in the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ahli finished last season in third place, but they need to become a more competitive side to break into the top two and have a chance at winning a domestic trophy. Two of the players they have their sights set on are Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal’s frontman, and Tottenham’s man, Richarlison.
The Brazilian winger, Richarlison, has often been the center of tons of controversy. His anger on the pitch and his inability to score goals in tough games has led to ample critique of his personality and playing style. He faced a lot of pressure throughout his career, no doubt leading to a lack of confidence that has harmed his proficiency in front of goal over the years. Despite the critique from fans and pundits, he still managed to have a successful last season at Tottenham. He made 28 appearances, scored eleven goals, and added four assists to his teammates throughout the season.
For Jesus, he has had a similar tumultuous career that has had super-high highs and very low lows. He, like Richarlison, is also a Brazilian international footballer who is just 27 years old – arguably in the prime of his career. He began his senior career at Palmeiras, where he made 67 appearances and scored 21 goals at just 18 years old. He was then scouted by Manchester City and made a huge impact at the club, playing there for five seasons and amassing almost 160 appearances for his English club. He made the huge move to go to Arsenal in 2022 due to the arrival of other big-name stars like Grealish and Haaland.
At Arsenal, he has gone on to make 53 appearances and score 15 goals for his club. Now, both players could give up English football to go to the Saudi Pro League to potentially sign a lucrative deal and help their new team. Al-Ahli is no stranger to bringing in huge names in the footballing world to their side, as they purchased Mahrez from Manchester City, Allan Saint-Maximin (a shock move from Newcastle United), and Roberto Firmino from Liverpool.
Al-Ahli Saudi FC in the Saudi Pro League
Last season in the Saudi Pro League, Al-Ahli Saudi earned third place by amassing 65 points in 34 matches played. However, despite earning third, they were way off the mark of Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, both of whom were 20+ points higher than them on the table. Al-Ahli will have to score more goals and let in fewer goals to be able to compete with the top tier of teams in the league.
Al-Ahli scored just 67 goals last year, compared to Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr’s 100+ goal seasons. By bringing in talented and speedy wingers, Al-Ahli is hoping to increase the likelihood of scoring more goals and beating lower-level teams with ease.
