Sanju Samson, India’s vice-captain on the T20I tour of Zimbabwe, recalled being a member of the T20 World Cup-winning team last month. Stating emotions from the victory celebrations in Barbados are still fresh in his mind and describes it as a wonderful experience.
“The feelings are still processing. The photographs are still around. It was an unbelievable experience. I could not stop smiling. I feel really fortunate to be a member of the team. Thanks to everyone who donated,” Sanju Samson told broadcasters that it was a complete team effort.
When asked about the decision to bring in Mukesh Kumar and Riyan Parag, as well as being Shubman Gill’s deputy in the series. Samson said, “There will be some shift in the batting order, hoping to gain some time in the middle. I’ve led RR for the past four years.”
“There were some legends. I look after both legends and kids. You have a better understanding of cricket. When you are captain, you consider other players and the team as a whole. “I have been improving.”
Sanju Samson’s T20 World Cup Experience
Sanju Samson described it as an incredible experience for him. And he felt lucky to be a part of an incredible team. Samson praised the BCCI, the entire squad, and the support personnel for the T20 World Cup victory. He traveled with the Indian side to the United States and the West Indies for the T20 World Cup but did not play. Sanju Samson was explicitly asked about his experience. And he stated that he hasn’t stopped smiling since June 29, 2024.

With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli departing from T20Is following India’s victorious World T20 campaign, Gautam Gambhir will have to fill a significant vacuum in India’s cricket team. Gambhir, India’s current head coach, will also have to decide who will captain the country in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Indian cricket team in Tests and One-Day Internationals.
The Indian team, led by Shubman Gill, is currently in Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series. This is the group’s final task before the Gautam Gambhir era begins. The young Indian squad was rocked by a gallant and high-spirited Zimbabwe in the opening match of the series, but the ‘Blue Brigade’ rallied and won three successive games to gain an unbeatable lead in the series.
Richard Ngarava’s: Overcoming Fitness Challenges
Richard Ngarava, Zimbabwe’s fast bowler, says he feels fine now after battling with fitness issues. “I’ve worked hard over the previous month. I had a knee ailment and was glad to be back on the team.
There are several lessons you may learn from playing in the (T20) leagues. You meet a lot of instructors and fitness experts. You get to learn a lot. At the end of the day, you want to do the little things better.”
When asked what makes his bowling partnership with Blessing Muzarabani effective, Ngarava replied, “We’ve been in the same academy for a long time, and it’s been working for us.
“He’s the type of guy who cheers me up when I’m down and cheers him up when he’s down. We hope to keep taking wickets. Hopefully, both of us can take a fifer in the same match,” Sanju Samson added.
