San Francisco Giants Starting Pitcher Blake Snell turned in a career performance on Saturday at home against the Colorado Rockies. In game one of Saturday’s doubleheader, Snell punched out a career-high 15 batters as the San Francisco Giants won 4-1. Snell tossed six scoreless innings and surrendered only two hits. His career day was wasted as he walked away with a no decision as the bullpen coughed up the lead once Snell departed. Luckily for the Giants, they were able to recover and walk away with the much-needed victory.
Snell was hitting on all cylinders on Saturday as he struck out multiple batters in all six innings. Snell’s first season with the Giants has not gone according to plan. He is 0-3 with an ERA of 6.10. That ERA would be last in all of baseball if he had enough starts this season to qualify. Snell’s 2024 campaign has been riddled with injury. Snell had a left abductor strain that sidelined him at the beginning of the season and a groin strain he suffered on June 2 that kept him out for over a month.
Will Snell be able to carry this momentum into his remaining starts this season as the San Francisco Giants fight to get back into the playoff picture?

When Will Snell Take The Mound Next?
The next start for Blake Snell is up in the air. With the 2024 MLB Trade Deadline just a few days away, the two-time Cy Young Award winner has been linked to many teams. Snell’s next scheduled start is on August 3 on the road against the Cincinnati Reds. He last faced Cincinnati on May 1, 2023, and fared well. Snell surrendered three earned runs over six innings of work and walked away with the victory.
The San Francisco Giants go for the series sweep of the Colorado Rockies this afternoon. They begin a two-game series with the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday. Regardless of where Snell ends the 2024 season, he will look to build on Saturday’s career day and recover from what has been a rough 2024 season.
