Butt believes PCB mismanagement has seriously hurt Azam’s capability to lead. Rather than fully supporting him, PCB has put unnecessary pressure on him, which reflects his performance.
Improper Support for Babar Azam
Butt has said while Azam is not a leader by nature, he required more concrete support from the board to succeed. Instead of encouraging Azam and giving him needed resources, Butt saw the board pulling the rug from under Azam’s feet. The lack of support played into Azam’s woes. Butt believes that the PCB did not deliver much-needed support.
Butt also said that teammates’ public criticism has hurt Azam. In recent weeks, both Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir have criticized Babar Azam openly.
Butt suggests that PCB’s poor handling of internal conflicts contributed to a toxic environment. It has led to poor on-field performances and bad team morale. He said the PCB has not delivered needed support around Azam. Butt claimed that the current leadership team is incapable and inexperienced.
Salman Butt Timing Is Interesting
