New Orleans Saints Activate Juwan Johnson From PUP List

Juwan Johnson

Breaking news from the New Orleans Saints camp as they have just activated tight end Juwan Johnson from the Physically Unable to Perform list. This is super news for the Saints, who are preparing for the new season. With Johnson now off the PUP list, he’s ready to act.

He will join the team for its first practice at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium. This move comes just in time as the Saints prepare for their upcoming games. The reports are from Matthew Paras of the Times-Picayune  Advocate and Nick Underhill from New Orleans. Football indicates that Johnson will practice on Thursday and speak with the media afterward.

Juwan Johnson’s Impact on the Field

Juwan has been a big contributor to the Saints, particularly as their top tight-end pass-catcher. Last season, he concluded the year on a good note with three touchdown catches in the last four games. For the season-ending stretch of four games, he logged 17 receptions and 216 yards. His return is exciting, in particular, because he labored with a foot injury. He had surgery in the spring after developing a stress fracture. This kept him sidelined for much of the summer, missing all 18 training camp practices and two preseason games.

Building Chemistry with Juwan Johnson

One of the few bright spots in Johnson’s final season was his improved chemistry with quarterback Derek Carr. They appeared to get more on the same page toward the end of the campaign, which bodes well for the future of the Saints’ offense. With Johnson back on the field, they’ll get an opportunity to continue building on that connection.

Even with Johnson back, though, he may take it a little easy until he gets completely back to full strength. It is said that a player may need time to shake off the rust due to an injury. On the brighter side, there are still more than two weeks before the regular season kicks off, so there should be enough time for him to gradually get better and return to his form.

Johnson’s Role in the New Offense

The Saints have a new offensive coordinator in Klint Kubiak, and Juwan Johnson is expected to fit nicely within his schemes. Kubiak’s offense may give him an outlet to further showcase his talents and bring influential rewards. Saints fans are eagerly anticipating his return to action. He brings something refreshing to the team, and his presence in the mix is something to watch out for in the buildup of the team toward the season. With him on the pitch, excitement is guaranteed in games.

The Saints will trepidatiously watch his movements as Juwan Johnson comes back onto the field.  After all, it would be his recuperation and the team’s preparation that would matter, for both worked to get up on the right foot this season. In a nutshell, the activation of Juwan Johnson from the PUP list is excellent news for the Saints. Again, his return brings hope and excitement, with which the team is bound to face the new season. The fans and the team will be looking out to see just how he will have an impact on the pitch.
