The Sacramento Kings sit in seventh in a crowded Western Conference. But they look to bring the night while finishing the later part of the NBA regular season. in order to do so, they’ll need big nights from their players.
Luckily they have two of the more difficult players to guard in the league. Additionally, this team continues to grow together and poses problems for opposing teams. Even if they don’t make much noise this year, they are looking good for years to come. They may even avoid the play-in aspect altogether with this roster.
Do you see this team winning come the post-season now?
Sacramento Kings Lead Against A Good LA Team
The loss of Paul George may prove to be too much for the Los Angeles Clippers. But that is not the main aspect of this last Sunday night game in the NBA today. Instead, the Sacramento Kings hold a 58-51 lead over the Clippers at the half.
This is due to the presence of Domantas Sabonis. He continues to be a matchup nightmare for the opposing frontcourt. He nearly has a triple-double with an entire half left to play! He’s scored eleven points, grabbed nine rebounds, and has seven assists for the Sacramento Kings.
But he is creating havoc on the offensive glass. Even when he can’t get the rebound, Ivica Zubac has a hard time containing him. Sabonis impressively has four offensive boards. And as mentioned, he’s getting fouled and making the Clippers frontcourt work on every possession, frustrating them.
Sacramento Kings Other Contributors
Harrison Barnes reached double-figures and is shooting 50% from three. But De’Aarron Fox continues to frustrate defenses. Even when the Clippers might have him contained, Fox finds ways to be elusive and create scoring opportunities.
Fox contributed four assists and grabbed five boards as well. But he along with four of the starters have at least one offensive rebound. Even though they are shooting slightly below the Clippers, the Sacramento Kings established a lead and are controlling the game at the half through their second efforts and intensity. The inability of Los Angeles to keep them off the offensive glass is important to monitor.
Sacramento Kings Opponents
Kawhi Leonard shoulders more responsibility without George in the lineup. But he only has a dozen at the half. Moreover, it’s off of twelve hard-earned shots, as he’s shooting 50% from the field. He’ll need help from the others around him, especially the usual names and suspects to get a late-night win.
While the Clippers have plenty of star power to replace George, it remains to be seen if they have enough depth to creep back into this game. Extended minutes for some may play against their favor. But the Sacramento Kings look fresher and overall better through the first half of play.
