The Summer League has officially begun, starting off with the Sacramento Kings 2 vs. the Los Angeles Lakers. It was full of excitement as the Kings managed to pull ahead and keep their lead. They would end up with the 108-94 win in the first California Classic game.
There were some bright stars playing today, and many managed to prove why they were fighting to get into the league. A good showing came from a large portion of the Sacramento roster while the Lakers had some blips here in there. This first game showed that the Summer League will be very fun to watch this year.
Adonis Arms Plays Like a Beast
One man definitely got the attention of NBA scouts today, and that is Adonis Arms. He currently plays for the Memphis Hustle, where he averages 16.0 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game. In today’s California Classic game, he turned up the heat, cashing in 32 points in 32 minutes. He also got himself eleven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. His first game of the Classic notched him a double-double.
Arms was able to get himself to the basket very easily against the Laker’s defense. He cut through the paint like butter and had some nice up and under buckets. His midrange was also hitting as he went 12-17 in field goal range. Lastly, he made 1-3 of his three-pointers and 7-8 of his free throws.
This guy deserves a chance to compete on an NBA roster. Hopefully, his Summer League continues to be great, and he gets an opportunity to rise from the G-League into the big leagues.
Dalton Knecht Struggles to Connect
It takes a while for NBA players to adjust to the league. It is especially difficult in your first Summer League when you haven’t been given a big chance to learn the ropes. These players barely get any practice in before being expected to perform. It seems like this may have been an issue for pick No. 17 Dalton Knecht in his first California Classic showing.
In 26 minutes of play, Knecht had 12 points, four assists, and two rebounds. He also managed to grab two steals. However, a majority of his points came from the line as he went 5-9. His field goal numbers weren’t great as he went 3-12 and 1-4 from three. This is just the first game for the young guard, and more should be expected of him in the future.
Knecht finished his college career with 21.7 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game, and 1,8 assists per game in his senior year. Once he gets himself situated, expect the sharpshooter to find his form and start knocking down shots.
Sacramento Kings Meant Business

Coming off the bench, Antoine Davis played extremely well. In his 17 minutes of playing time, he had 20 points, a block, and an assist. Given more time, he probably would have done a lot more damage. Davis is currently playing for the Stockton Kings in the G-League after going undrafted in 2023.
Davis could be a nice pickup for quite a few teams in the NBA. I could see him going to the Washington Wizards or Charlotte Hornets if they had the space. Managing to score more points than the number of minutes you play is a great thing to see. If he can stay hot during the California Classic, he could land himself a spot on an actual roster.
Jordan Ford and Xavier Sneed also played well. Ford is in his second year, and Sneed is in his third. Ford has played for both the Sacramento Kings and the Stockton Kings. Right now, he sits on their G-League roster with some decent stats. However, his time on their main roster wasn’t the best. Sneed currently plays for Happy Casa Brindisi in Italy, where he leads in points and assists. Both did well in their first California Classic game for the Sacramento Kings.
