Rose Namajunas has a very important role in winning and holding onto the title, which increases her value and proves that she is dominant over other fighters in the UFC. Rose Namajunas has participated in different UFC championship fights, but the opportunity to fight for a title in her homeland holds a very important value that surpasses them all.
Tracy and the Thug went face-to-face in the main event, and she proved why she holds the title. “Thug Rose” secured her second victory, which she won one after the other at 125 pounds, on Saturday in the main event of UFC Denver. She proved herself to the world and showed the talents that earned her the strawweight championship twice. Those are the top reasons why the fighter defeated Tracy Cortez. This marked Cortez’s first loss in the octagon and confirmed that Namajunas is not a joke to go against in the octagon.
Rose Namajunas discusses flyweight with ESPN
After the fight, Namajunas shared her ideal vision for a flyweight title shot during an interview with the ESPN team. Rose Namajunas said, referring to her parent’s home country:
I had this vision; I want to fight in Lithuania one day. She insists on bringing the fight to Lithuania, and that’s her demand so that she will fight her opponent and they’ll have a rematch.
She mentioned fighting Manon or anyone for the title, and they’ll be good to go, but only if they fight in the home country of the Thug. She said in her own words:
Bring the UFC to Lithuania, and I would love to rematch Manon [Fiorot] or anybody for the belt, whatever. That’s my dream come true, but anything that the UFC has in mind, I’m cool with as well.
Namajunas dominance in the octagon
Namajunas and Jedrzejczyk faced each other in the octagon 2 times, with the champ dominating in both of the fights and making the title shot on her name. After Jedrzejczyk retired in 2022, she got an opportunity and she was honored with the Hall of Fame of UFC in 2024. Another notable opponent for Namajunas is Jessica Andrade, a former strawweight champion.
Andrade and the Thug Rose face twice and this time it’s different because she lost to Andrade. In their first fight, Andrade defeated Rose with a powerful slam, but Namajunas took her revenge this time with a narrow split decision win in their rematch. Rose considers her a strong contender for the BMF title, but her main goal remains to secure an undisputed championship in a second-weight division.
Confirmation about being ready to fight every time
Namajunas explained that she is ready any time she gets the fight and she’ll fight and dominate her opponent as she did this time. As she said this, when asked about her readiness for a title shot, Rose confidently replied, “I’m ready whenever.” At the post-fight press conference, Thug Rose was questioned about the idea of competing in the inaugural women’s “BMF” title fight. She had brought it up during her in-cage interview after her win on Saturday, but she clarified later that it was more of a joke than a serious suggestion.
Although the unofficial belt doesn’t carry the weight class prestige within, it’s indicative of something. It shows a fighter who is willing to stand in the octagon and do whatever it takes to force an opponent into submission. Anyone who even dares to compete for this title is in a league of their own.
