Ronda Rousey is one of the big names in UFC who saved the women’s division. Therefore, champions like Rousey, Conor McGregor, and Jon Jones are always appreciated and welcomed at every UFC event. In every Women’s division card, the UFC officials try to add the name “Ronda Rousey” so fans can hope for a comeback and perhaps persuade the champion. However, Rousey has clarified that she cannot return to UFC and fight again because of her health issues.
Expected Comeback of Ronda Rousey
The latest comeback to the Octagon was expected at UFC 300. The promotion had suggested that it was going to be the biggest event ever, and as a result, there were tons of rumors, and fans were curious about what surprise Dana White might have for the fans. Someone suggested Rousey’s name, but White quickly dismissed the idea, stating that she was never a candidate for the job in the first place. He said that Rousey is happy with her decision to retire and is currently a full-time mom to her children.
Rousey recently appeared on Chris Van Vliet’s podcast, and they discussed different aspects of life in UFC and WWE. “Every couple of years … the same rumor comes out. It’s nice to feel missed, I guess. But it’s not happening. I’m not neurologically fit to compete anymore at the highest level. I just can’t.” She also clarified the reason why it can’t get better, “You just get to a level where the neurological injuries you take accumulate over time. They don’t get better.”
Rousey Makes the Right Decision
Holly Holm defeated Rousey in 2015 when she launched a devastating head kick on the Champion’s neck. This fight was the battle for the UFC bantamweight title which Rousey lost, leading her to take a year’s break. When she came back 13 months later, she was knocked out in just 48 seconds by Amanda Nunes. After this fight, she left the octagon and was never seen in the UFC again. Reflecting on that period, Rousey believes she should have retired after the loss to Holm, but she could not let go of her fighting career gracefully.
Final Thoughts
At the end of everything, you have to take care of your family and your loved ones and that’s exactly what Rousey is focused on. She knows that fans will hate her if she keeps getting knocked out again and again in the Octagon and that will affect every aspect of her life. So, the decision not to return ever is the right decision to be made. What are your thoughts about the decisions of Ronda Rousey? Let us know in the comment section.
