Rohit Sharma Reflections Post-Match
After the match, Rohit Sharma shared his thoughts about the team’s performance. He said that winning this game was sweet. As a team, we worked hard in three departments: bowling, batting, and fielding. Rohit Sharma appreciated the team’s performance.
We found the key to what we needed was just adapting, and that is exactly what I did. He applauded the bowling department as well as the batsmen’s efforts. On six for one in the chase, I was walking out, thinking we were going to win. It doesn’t always happen like that.
The bowlers and the batters adapted to the conditions well; everything fell into place there. At one point, we were thinking 140–150 and got to 171 because of our big partnership with me and Surya. He stressed the need to give players freedom. I do have a target in mind while releasing the ball, but I wouldn’t like to give a hint to any of their batters as well.
The players are instinctive by nature and may just have to go out there without thinking at all about what an on-board score is. We read the terms well and put in a clinical performance to post 171 runs, but I believe it was a very good score on that pitch. The bowlers were brilliant today.
