Rohit Sharma Selfless Gesture To Decline T20 WC Prize

The Indian cricket team captain, Rohit Sharma, went on to give a prize amount which he had won in the T20 World Cup 2024. This was done so that the amount remained the same for all the supporting staff as well.
The former head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, received a lot of love from fans when he decided to share prize money with support staff.
He aimed to ensure that all supportive staff would share an equal amount of prize. This came after the Board of Control for Cricket in India awarded the winners of the T20 World Cup 2024 Rs 125 crore.

The initial distribution plan of the prize money would not equally benefit all members of the support staff. Rohit Sharma was very fast in noting this and proactively sorting out the concern. As per a report, Rohit Sharma had even offered to give up the entire sum of Rs five crore from his share in the interest of justice. He did not want a situation where the support staff received a lower amount in comparison to others following their contribution towards the success of the team.
During the chartered flight return from Barbados to India, one of them told the team management that Rohit Sharma was not at all pleased with the initial plan and said everyone who contributed should get an equal share for the team’s success. After discussions and the captains’ proposal, the BCCI revised the payment structure. Finally, it was decided that Rs two crore would be given to the strength and conditioning coach, the physiotherapist, the analyst, and other support staff members.

Rohit Sharma said he has now retired from T20 international cricket after driving India to the historic T20 World Cup 2024 victory.
