Rohit Creates Great History, Becomes 2nd Top Indian Batsman

Rohit Sharma Creates History, Becomes Top 2nd Indian Batsman

India’s captain Rohit Sharma became the team’s most successful T20I captain, leaving behind even MS Dhoni. As a batter, he also achieved three noteworthy milestones.

In T20Is, Rohit also scored over 4000 runs, making history as the second batter in history to do so (after Virat Kohli) across all three game types. At the T20 World Cup, Rohit became the second Indian player after Kohli to reach 1000 runs.

Rohit’s Performance in the T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup got off to an incredible start for Rohit Sharma. The Indian skipper was unstoppable on Wednesday at the Nassau Cricket Stadium in New York against Ireland. Despite the blow on his shoulder, which also forced him to leave the match, he did his best.

Thanks to Rohit, India got off to a winning start in the T20 World Cup. He made excellent decisions from the outset and then took the lead with a brilliant half-century in the chase.

After hitting three sixes and scoring 52 off 37 balls, Sharma became the only player at the recently constructed stadium to score more than 50 runs. However, he chose to leave the field due to a stiff right shoulder. That easy eight-wicket victory for India was made possible by his innings. As if that wasn’t enough, Rohit achieved several noteworthy runs at the top of the bat and as captain.

Rohit Breaks The Records

In the history of international cricket, he became the first player to hit 600 sixes. After just 427 games, Rohit’s six total is at 600 at this point. Shahid Afridi (476 sixes in 524 matches) and Chris Gayle (553 sixes in 483 matches) are behind him.

In T20Is, Rohit also scored over 4000 runs, making history as the second batter in history to do so (after Virat Kohli) across all three game types. At the T20 World Cup, Rohit became the second Indian player after Kohli to reach 1000 runs.

As Rishabh Pant hit the game-winning six, Sharma became the most successful skipper of India in T20I cricket history. As captain of the T20Is, he surpassed MS Dhoni‘s win total.

Rohit has now surpassed Dhoni’s 41 (Super Over wins not included) in 73 T20I victories with 42 as captain in 55 matches. Additionally, Sharma has a substantially greater victory % (77.29) than Dhoni (59.28). In 50 T20Is, Kohli has 30 victories as captain.

Rohit joined England’s Eoin Morgan and Afghanistan’s Asghar Afghan (42 wins apiece) in the overall list headed by Pakistan’s Babar Azam (46 wins in 81 matches). But fell short of Pakistan’s Babar Azam (46 wins) as the captain with the fewest T20I wins. He remained in fourth place. Brian Masaba of the USA is ranked second with 44 T20I victories.

After Sharma’s explosion at the top, India thrashed Ireland for 96 runs before Rishabh Pant scored 36 not out off 26 balls to take the score to 97 for 2 in 12.2 overs. In Sunday’s league stage title match, India takes on Pakistan. Both are historic rivals. “First wickets established the tone for us,” stated Sharma.

“Though not much changed in the second innings, it was still a wonderful wicket to spend time on. We’ll gear up for the Pakistan match as though the circumstances will be the same.”, Rohit ended.
