Chelsea might be looking to purchase a Real Madrid player, Rodrygo, who can help them win and score goals – something they lacked this season in the Premier League. Chelsea had a lackluster and low-energy season, especially for a club of the statute and size of this North London outfit.
Fans, coaches, and players were all left disappointed with the way their 2023-2024 Premier League campaign ended, so it is no wonder they are looking to rebuild their squad for the next season.
And one of their main targets is a talented attacker who comes from the Spanish La Liga. Real Madrid may, or may not, give up one of their best squad members for more money or for a trade from the English side. Let’s see if it will happen or not.
Will Rodrygo go to Chelsea?

Unfortunately for the Blues, they are not the only Premier League side that is eyeing up the talented Real Madrid product. Manchester City is also considering buying the gifted player, adding to City’s depth and attacking prowess by bolstering the ranks of Foden, Haaland, and Grealish. Pep Guardiola has been reportedly speaking on how he enjoys the Brazilian’s style of play and finesse with the ball at his feet.
But, despite City being a viable option and competing with Chelsea for the talented star, the transition from La Liga to Premier League could be too much for the player. The different styles of play, tactics, and physicality mean that some players do not adapt to the new country as well. Only time will tell if Rodrygo decides to make a move and if he can make it work for his creative mindset on the pitch.
One of the main motivating factors, per usual, is money. Rodrygo and Real Madrid will have to fork over a hefty transfer fee of more than $180 million to accommodate the Brazilian leaving, which would put the club in a huge financial debt. The more likely option is that Rodrygo decides to stay at the Spanish club until his contract expires in 2028.
But, that doesn’t mean that Real Madrid has closed the door on the option. It has been quoted that the club has stated they can talk about a potential move from the Brazilian “if they have to.” Although this isn’t very promising for the player or either club, they have not completely ruled out the possibility of the star heading to City or Chelsea after the UEFA Champions League Final this weekend.
Chelsea Looking Forward
If Chelsea are not able to sign Rodrygo, what do they have to look forward to? Well, in just a few hours, they may be signing a new manager – Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea and the previous manager, Pochettino, agreed to part ways by mutual consent. This left the door open for an interim manager or long-term gaffer who would step in and take over the Blues for the following Premier League season. Maresca’s name was instantly mentioned in the press and word has spread that he is the number one man for the job.
If Maresca enjoys Rodrygo’s playing style, Brazil could be his top transfer purchase for the off-season. Let’s see if Rodrygo will fit into the new manager’s plans for the 2024 season.
