‘Arsenal We have to put the rivalry aside,’ Arteta Urges 1st Team Players

Arsenal

The Arsenal Vs Tottenham North London Derby has always provided an entertaining & marvelous watch since time immemorial, promising to thrill and entertain football fans not only in London but across the entire world of soccer. Its ferocious rival nature can be equated to the gladiator games in the colosseum where gladiators fought savagely in a matter of life and death with the winner taking it all, but in this modern age, the players are fighting to be the kings of London.

For Arsenal it’s more than that as they are currently in the run-in to win the premier league title, currently sitting in the pole position with just one point separating them from the defending champions Manchester City. For Arsenal this game is more than a derby, it’s the home run to a league title that they haven’t won in twenty years. For Arteta and the Gunners in general the EPL is bigger than their derby rivalry.

A Trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium For Arsenal

The Gooners will make their trip to the Tottenham Hotspurs stadium on Sunday for an afternoon kick-off at 2:00 PM London time and 9:00 am EST. A win will ensure that Arsenal will remain at the top of the EPL and four points clear of their hot pursuing league rivals Manchester City who will be playing Nottingham Forest later that day at The City Ground, a 4:30 PM kick-off London time and 11:30 AM EST.

Tottenham is currently in a battle of their own sitting in the fifth position nine position off the champions league spot which holds a significant importance in playing the elite European football. Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou in a press conference urged that he is not motivated by stopping their derby rivals winning the league but rather focused in his team progressing and attaining a much coveted champions league spot.

Arteta’s Level-headed Mindset

While the Team understand the intensity of the derby he is well aware that the game needs a level headed mindset that will allow the team to play their usual free flowing attacking football that has seen them win all but one of their EPL games since the start of the year, currently sitting in position one with the best goal difference, having scored a total of eighty-two goals and conceding only twenty-six goals the best record in the league.

“We have to put the rivalry aside and we have to live the game with passion and the intensity that it demands rather than anything special because the game has everything you need to enjoy it.”  A cheerful Arteta said in his pre match press briefing.

Level Headed Mindset

A level headed mindset will bring out the best of the players, avoiding reckless emotional play that may lead to miscalculated tackles and passes that eventually will lead to Arsenal losing the game. I believe this game is a very crucial game in the run in to win the league and Arsenal players know it better than anyone that the only acceptable results at the end of the Derby is a win taking all three points and putting more pressure on Manchester City who are in hot pursuit of their fourth consecutive EPL title.
