Rishabh Pant Appeal and Review Process
DC appealed to have the decision of the match referee reversed at the time of the hearing, applying the provision of Article 8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Nevertheless, the matter was sent to the intermediary BCCI ombudsman for review. It was again stipulated that the final and binding decision of the umpire remains final and binding. Notably, DC’s director, Sourav Ganguly, head coach Ricky Ponting, and CEO Sunil Gupta were team representatives at the hearing.
During the letter, Rishabh Pant alleged several reasons for the lag, such as a large number of sixes by RR batters and the controversial decision of Sanju Samson’s dismissal. The absence of factors indicating higher times required for the events that DC would be hosting as well as the cost of these events resulted in the ruling against the application.
