AEW All In 2024 has shown some big reveals and moments, but we saw a new member of the All Elite Wrestling roster debut as Ricochet was a surprise entrant for the Casino Gauntlet match for a future AEW World Championship match. This has been speculated on for a while and now we know that Ricochet is officially All Elite as Tony Khan officially tweeted out the graphic. Let’s dive a bit into what this means for himself and the company as a whole.
Who will Ricochet’s first major match be against?
With Ricochet officially being a member of the All Elite Wrestling roster, there is really one massive match that Tony Khan must be looking at: Ricochet vs. Will Ospreay. The two have not faced off since 2017 and they had that viral moment on social media where they did a lot of flips during a clip to a standing ovation during their NJPW Best Of The Super Junior XXIV Block A battle. That matchup is still being talked about seven years later and this should be a major pay-per-view matchup for the two and could be for the AEW American/International Championship if Ospreay is able to defeat MJF at AEW All In 2024.
Why did Ricochet join AEW?
While we may never know the actual reason, he won a few championships while at WWE but never seemingly got to that same height that he did entering the company or leaving WWE NXT. While in WWE, Ricochet was able to win the NXT North American Championship, United States Championship, Intercontinental Championship and WWE Speed Championship over the course of seven years with the company. He could have joined because he wanted to be more appreciated on the roster as it felt like Ricochet, who could be basically a video game character or super hero in real life, never was viewed as that by the decision-makers or it could be the amount of money/dates he could work.
Either way, this is a massive get for All Elite Wrestling and created some buzz after seeing Nigel McGuinness as another major surprise during the Casino Gauntlet match. Ricochet was able to keep the name so that helps casual viewers also understand who he is and that he’s not with WWE anymore after Bron Breakker destroyed him.
