Xabi Alonso Prefers Bayern Munich Over Liverpool
Xabi might choose Bayern over Liverpool if he decides to leave Leverkusen at the end of the summer. Although talks and negotiations have not yet occurred, Bayern Munich is optimistic about signing the Leverkusen coach. However, Liverpool is also eyeing bringing the former player to Anfield after Jurgen Klopp’s announcement to retire. However, reports state that if Xabi is to leave Leverkusen, he might choose Bayern over Liverpool.
This season has seen Xabi lead Bayer Leverkusen to the top of the table, 10 points ahead of Bayern Munich. With 26 games gone, Bayer Leverkusen remains unbeaten, winning 22 games and drawing only four. Leverkusen requires 15 points to become the Bundesliga champions for the first time in history. Bayern’s honorary president, Uli Hoeness, has already confirmed that his side, Liverpool, and Real Madrid are among the teams “working” to try and secure Alonso’s services.
“There are hardly any suitable coaches who are currently free. Rather, they are coaches who are under contract somewhere and may have great success.” Announced Unil Hoeness. “And that makes it much more difficult because clubs like Liverpool, Real Madrid, Leverkusen, and FC Bayern are working on it [securing Alonso]. It’s not so easy to tell them that Bayern is the measure of all things.” Added Bayern President.

Xabi’s Title Chase
Leverkusen are left with eight games to go and are currently in the Europa League. Bayer Leverkusen will square off with West Ham in the Europa Quarterfinals. Xabi Alonso, who took over Bayern Leverkusen in October 2022, has led the team in 75 matches and scored 50 wins. “No one would be angry or argue if he wins the Bundesliga and decides to go another route,” Hradecky said.
“We have built something worth a trophy. I hope it comes. Football is cruel sometimes; you don’t want Bayern breathing down your necks, but hopefully, the platform we have created is enough. We’re getting closer. That’s the mission. We have to keep believing. We are getting closer to our dream, and I hope it happens.” Added Hradecky.
