Real Madrid have shown serious interest in signing Mats Hummels. The former Borussia Dortmund player is showing no stopping as he continues to be in great form. The German international has recently played a Champions League final which Dortmund lost 2-0 that took place in Wembley against the same club he is currently linked up to.

The 35-year-old center-back has several options, the likes of the English giants (Manchester United) and also the Italian club (FC Bologna) have made their respective offers to the German international. However, it remains in the hands of Hummels, who wants a move out of Germany to choose a club and take up a new adventure.

After missing out on Leny Yoro, Real Madrid have now entered the race to sign Mats Hummels as they think that he could be of great help to pair up with the likes of David Alaba, Rudiger, and several other players this summer.

Mats Hummels technically operates as a center back, and at times when needed can even operate as a defensive midfielder. Due to his immense ball-control abilities, he has showcased his midfielder avatar a few times while playing in the Bundesliga. Hummels is known for his physical abilities and also his expertise in ball distribution. There are very few times he comes under pressure against the opponent team’s pressing technique and gives away the ball very cheaply which makes him suitable for the elite clubs of Europe.

His off-the-ball movement is also talked about a lot. He has a special ability the drag the attackers of the opponent team-wide on the line which makes it difficult for them to score from the center area of the penalty area. He showcases similarities to the old-time German defenders as he has over about 90 percent accurate passing ratio while on the field in professional matches.

Other Players Real Madrid are Contending for and Options for Mats Hummels

Mats Hummels has options available in the form of FC Bologna and a little bit of interest is shown up by Manchester United too. It all remains in the hands of Hummels on where he thinks he would enjoy and achieve more. The game time and the wages play an important role too, in deciding the future of the German veteran.

Real Madrid was keen to get their hands on Leny Yoro to replace the Madrid captain Nacho Fernandez, but unfortunately, they couldn’t. Although Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy enjoyed a great previous season, the Los Blancos were rooting up for Alphonso Davies, the Canadian left-back. Davies would completely fit into Madrid’s plan and offered all the qualities Real Madrid required.

Real Madrid is also targeting the likes of Frimpong who could be a great addition to the squad. The frontline including both, the midfield area and the attacking area are stacked up with the newly signed Mbappe, and other former club veterans like Vinicius JR, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, Camavinga, and many more.

Also with new talent coming in the form of teenagers like Arda Guler and Endrick, it will be very difficult for Mats Hummels to find his place in this star-studded Madrid team. There will be several matches where his role might be crucial and if he performs, he might retain his place in the starting XI. The rest decision depends on and will be taken by Mats Hummels after considering every possible aspect.
