Ravi Shastri Brings Out Key to Suryakumar’s Captaincy Success

Ravi Shastri Exposes The Key to Suryakumar's Captaincy Success

Former India coach Ravi Shastri has pointed out one challenging aspect that Suryakumar Yadav must immediately work on if he wants to be successful in his new role as India’s T20I captain. Suryakumar recently defeated a hot field when he was named Rohit Sharma’s replacement as India’s T20I captain. And the great hitter won’t have to wait long to exhibit his skills, as the team prepares to play a three-match series against Sri Lanka away from home. Shastri feels Suryakumar could succeed as India’s T20I skipper. At the same time, Ravi Shastri warns the 33-year-old because SKY needs to learn how to manage India’s many bowling options rapidly.

Ravi Shastri Gives Honest Suggestions To SKY

Speaking with host Sanjana Ganesan on the current edition of The ICC Review, Ravi Shastri stated that the most critical issue for the new captain. He said that SKY should determine his bowlers’ strengths and limits. As well as how to shape the field for each person.

“Suryakumar will have to understand from his bowlers what their strengths and limitations are,” Former India coach went on to say. “I never suggest a bowler has a weakness; rather, I describe a limitation followed by strengths. Then, focus on the appropriate objects and allocate fields accordingly. That is what he will need to learn.”

Sky already has captaincy experience. He led India in the T20I series against Australia at home and South Africa away following last year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup while Rohit was out. He has also captained Mumbai in domestic matches on occasion.

Shastri believes Suryakumar can flourish as India’s T20I skipper and expects the great hitter to adapt his explosive batting talents to the newly-appointed position. “We know he is a street expert… he is one of the top T20 players in the world right now,” Shastri explained.

“He is a match-winner on his own, and he walks into the team on his own every day in that style of the game, so I don’t think it’s a terrible idea at all. “I believe his captaincy style will reflect his personality and the way he plays the game. He’ll be thinking quickly, and because he knows all of these guys, even the older players, I believe he’ll be in an excellent position to lead the club.” Ravi Shastri added.

Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach of Team India faces enormous expectations after succeeding Ravi Shastri and Rahul Dravid. Dravid has yet to remark on Gambhir‘s appointment. However, Ravi Shastri’s opinion is obvious and confident. Shastri feels Gambhir has the weaponry to construct a world-class squad.

“He’s contemporary, and he just had a fantastic IPL season.” I believe he is the appropriate age; while he is young, he will come up with new ideas. He is familiar with most of the players, particularly in the white-ball format, having previously played for IPL clubs. So I think it’s refreshing,” Shastri told HT on The ICC Review Show.

Gambhir’s first formal coaching job as India’s coach comes on Saturday when the squad plays Sri Lanka in a three-match T20 series at Dambulla. Shastri advises Gambhir to interact and bond with his teammates fast.

“I feel it will be Gautam’s most important responsibility, which should not be an issue because he is modern. He’s seen these individuals from the outside, and he’s dealt with a number of guys who may have played for KKR and Lucknow (Super Giants) while he was there.” the former Indian coach stated.
