Randy Orton finally appeared on WWE SmackDown after his partner in the ring Kevin Owens defeated Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. The “Viper” had not wrestled since losing to GUNTHER at Bash in Berlin, where he narrowly missed winning his 15th world championship. He got back on the latest SmackDown episode to which fans have reacted positively as they have waited to see Orton in the ring for a few weeks.
Kevin Owens Faces an Uncertain Challenge
It was announced that Kevin Owens would face Austin Theory and Grayson Waller in a tag team match, with the identity of his partner remaining a surprise. However, Owens has been put in a strange position where Cody Rhodes is preoccupied with Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline. The build-up to the match created great hype as people tried to guess who ended up being Owens’ partner.
The answer to the former came when Ricky Gibson, an independent wrestler from Midnight Heat, made his entry, but he was greeted with a poor reaction. Owens got up to the crowd that his intended partner couldn’t make it due to a lot of traveling to get to the event, so he was stuck with Gibson.
Randy Orton’s Surprising Entrance
It seemed that Owens would be paired with Gibson and then he got the news that his original partner had indeed come after. Owens retreated and immediately pinned Gibson in a Stunner; the latter got out of the ring and the match with the people’s laughter. Shortly after this, Randy Orton’s theme played prompting the ‘legendary’ wrestler to enter the ring to the cheers of the Seattle audience. Fans got to see Randy Orton back on WWE SmackDown as he accompanied Owens for a match against their opponents, which was the highlight.
As the match started Theory and Waller got to assert their authority for much of the early part of the match. They concentrated on finally excluding Owens from the ring and attacking him on the outside where he received a send for the announcer’s table. Owens found himself overwhelmed and on the verge of being dominated, they seemed to follow the strategy of gradually wearing down their opponent.
Orton and Owens Rally for the Win
However, as soon as Randy Orton came to the ring to fight the match trembled in his favor. The crowd stayed on its feet and he laid into his opponent with the crowd popping for the man now back to his ruthless self. Owens and Randy Orton start to get back to the match and turn the tables around on the faces. Before the end of the fight, Owens established a dynamic Stunner, and then Randy Orton hit Grayson Waller with an RKO. He then pinned Waller, thus sealing the victory and signaling his path of triumphant comeback on WWE SmackDown.
His return to SmackDown adds excitement to the blue brand: and creates possible new competitive relationships. This is evident from the chemistry between him and Owens in the ring, and his victory is an indication of what is to come. Therefore, the WWE fans are looking forward to what is in store for the ‘Viper’ in this latest stint in the SmackDown.
