Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select is reporting that Randy Orton has signed a new contract to remain with WWE, with internal discussions being that the deal is expected to be another five-year deal. In the report, one higher up in the company said that due to the changes in the guaranteed money associated with contracts having changed since Randy Orton signed his previous deal in 2019, which made a new deal more realistic than adding injury time to his current contract.

Having Randy Orton stay with WWE means that there is another mainstay on weekly television for the company as he has been a staple on SmackDown for a while and is currently set to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Bash at Berlin 2024.  This will continue to add to the legitimacy of the brand as another main event-level talent is sticking with WWE right now.

In the short term, this creates a few different things as it appears that he will be losing the World Heavyweight Championship match and his story is more to be associated with Cody Rhodes, his former mentee, for the Undisputed WWE Championship. This also helps him potentially be part of John Cena’s retirement tour that takes place during the 2025 calendar. With these two having epic encounters throughout their legendary careers, it would not be surprising to anyone if they were to be across the ring from one another one final time.

Orton can continue to have his own chase for Ric Flair and John Cena’s 16 world championships as he is not too far behind. One of the WWE legends will be remaining with the company for the next half-decade.
