Randy Orton Praises Cody Rhodes’ Bold 2016 WWE Exit

Randy Orton Praises Cody Rhodes

Randy Orton recently showed up on a podcast with Cody Rhodes. Both champions have a long history in WWE and these legends are still one of the most famous wrestlers competing in the ring. Both champions praised each other in a recent podcast, which shows their long-lasting friendship. Especially, Randy Orton became emotional about the things that Cody Rhodes went through and he appreciated him a lot. In 2016, Rhodes made some decisions that were hard to take. But he went on it anyway and that is where he earned the respect of Randy Orton.

Cody Rhodes left WWE in 2016 but he could have performed better and had things turned around if he stayed. But fate had something different for him, so he decided to leave because he was angry and upset. He quit the company where his father had spent his entire career. Randy Orton, in a recent chat with Rhodes on his podcast, said “What do you wanna talk about?”

According to Randy Orton, if he was in place of Rhodes, he wouldn’t be able to make such a decision. Randy expressed his respect by saying that he was proud of Rhodes. The reason that Randy appreciated Rhodes a lot is because he knows how much hard work it takes to come back to WWE and make your legacy from scratch. “I’m proud of you, dude. Legitimately so proud of you. When you left, the balls it took for you to leave and then, like, start from scratch kind of, but not. I mean, that’s not the right way to say it, because you were Cody f***ing Rhodes.”

Short History of Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes first appeared on WWE television in 2007, teaming up with Hardcore Holly. He later joined Randy Orton’s group called The Legacy, along with Ted DiBiase. In 2011, Cody won the Intercontinental Championship. He even had a match with Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 27, and everything was going well for Cody until he got stuck with the Stardust character. With face paint and odd behavior, Rhodes didn’t connect with this character, and the years from 2014 to 2016 were tough for him.

Return of Cody Rhodes

By the end of 2016, he got so irritated by the way things were being done that he resigned from the company. He co-founded All Elite Wrestling also called AEW in collaboration with Tony Khan and took up the position of the Vice President of the company, signing a five-year deal with AEW. But in 2022, he could not agree with Khan, and because of this, he returned to WWE.

Cody returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 where he got his first victory against Seth Rollins. In the following 2 years, he was a Royal Rumble winner and in the main event for two WrestleMania. Today he is WWE’s biggest star and the company’s front man. Rhodes decided to leave WWE eight years ago and although that was a great risk it became a great gain for him.
