Previously, the Indian team’s captain, Rahul Dravid, who played his last international match without the World Cup as a player, succeeded as a coach. Under him, India rose to the pinnacle of the game across Tests and ODIs, with the euphonic T20 World Cup triumph being the pinnacle.

Summing up the occasion that marked his genius involvement in strengthening the base of Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid stressed the need to develop a conducive preparation for the country’s team. Speaking for himself, Rahul Dravid said:

I would like to think that coaching is not only restricted to coaching cricket, but it’s about associating with people and establishing an environment that provides for victory”. ‘My idea has always been to provide a professional, safe, and secure environment that does not punish you when you fail but is, at the same time, challenging enough.

He, whom the music does not please, who does not remember dancing to it in his youth, a girlfriend with whom he once spent the night, is different.

After India was mauled in the T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma, the captain of the team, became all out from the T20Is. Rahul Dravid admitted to having seen Rohit grow from the age of seventeen into a mature leader and said that he was fond of the player.

I have particularly felt privileged to work with Rohit,” Rahul  Dravid said. Rohit was instrumental to the team over the last 10-12 years as a player and as a captain: I will missing this,”.

Rahul  Dravid also admired Kohli, who also retired from T20Is, for his professionalism and commitment. Explaining how Virat Kohli challenges his abilities, Rahul Dravid said,

With Virat, his desire to get better and become even better is interesting to watch and appreciate.

Personal Ideas on Coaching and Relations

Rahul Dravid has a lot to say about his three-year journey as coach of the Indian team. While addressing his mates, the legend said:

I believe that whenever I look back at my stint as a coach, these are some of the relations that mean something to me most of all. The kind of people I’ve had the pleasure of working with, my coaching staff, and the support staff, their professionalism is what I’ll cherish the most. The connections and friendships I’ve built will last long after I forget some of the good and bad results.

Rahul  Dravid also mentioned the support of his family throughout his tenure. “My family has invested in the Indian team over the last two and a half years. Seeing my two young boys involved in every result has been very rewarding.

As Rahul Dravid prepares to step down, former India batsman Gautam Gambhir is widely reported to be his successor as the coach of the Indian team. Reflecting on his journey, Dravid concluded,

I’ve really enjoyed my time with India. It’s been a great learning experience, and I’ll take away many pleasant memories from my two and a half years here.

Dravid’s tenure as head coach may have come to an end, but his impact on Indian cricket will be remembered for years to come.
