In a welterweight fight that packed interest in every round, the judges were unanimous for Quinton Randall over Janelson Bocachica on Friday night at the Red Owl Boxing Arena in Houston, Texas. His win was helping him in his return process after two consecutive losses last year. The scores given by the judges looked like this: 99-91, 97-93, 96-94. All the scores were in favor of the local fighter, him. With his new record showing 15-2-1 and three knockouts, he got his second win that time, though he faced previous losses to unbeaten fighters Brian Norman Jr. and Gor Yeritsyan.

Quinton Randall’s Speed and Precision Shine Through

Janelson Bocachica was also hit quite frequently by Quinton Randall, 33, who seemed to get his punches through more often than was true. The fight was won by Quinton, whose superior speed and technical skill overshadowed Bocachica’s relentless spirit. But what can be noted was that, unlike some fighters who deny performing well during a fight, Quinton Randall was honest during the post-fight interview. He said that

“It’s not my best, man. Not my best. He’s a dog. He’s a warrior. I knew he was coming to fight. I knew he was coming to fight [and] I appreciate him for even accepting the fight knowing he’s away from home and knowing this is my home”

Bocachica’s Struggles Continue

Such an event was the opposite for Janelson Bocachica, who was once again dealt with by the management as a setback to his boxing career. This gives Janelson a record of 17-3-1, including eleven knockouts. The 25-year-old Detroit native has been winless since February 2021, when he won a split decision against Mark Reyes Jr. Since then, Bocachica’s career has been marked by setbacks, including losses to Alberto Palmetta and Roiman Villa.

His last fight was a draw with Shinard Bunch and a no-contest against Brian Norman Jr. Bocachica, who was earlier active at fourteen fights, has now gone five straight bouts without a victory in a situation that makes people ask what is next for him in boxing. Following the victory, Quinton Randall said he expects to step back into the boxing ring in December, with December 7 pinned as the date of the fight with another match in the same venue in Houston.

Co-Main Event and Undercard Action

Another spectacular co-main event of the evening was a victory of Tipton Walker Jr. (10-0-1, 6 KOs) over Marquis Moore (11-2, 7 KOs) with a unanimous decision. The fight was very competitive, and the judges’ decisions from yesterday were also well reflected in the scores. Two judges gave the fight 77-75, and the third one gave little in favor of Walker 78-75. Walker, a native of Benton Harbor, Michigan, has been unbeaten so far, although he fought to a draw position against Clay Collard in 2019.

At the same time, Houston’s Giovanni Marquez has confidently continued winning tradition with the second-round knockout of Thomas Guillemette (8-3, 4 KOs). Marquez, 23, dropped Guillemette with a right hand, and when the Frenchman could not get back up on his feet, the referee had to intervene. The fight that closed the show was the main event of Red Owl Boxing’s “Boxfest” series, going ten rounds and streamed live on DAZN.

Final Thoughts

Quinton Randall’s unanimous decision victory over Janelson Bocachica marked a significant step in his comeback journey after two consecutive losses, showcasing his superior speed and technical skill in front of a hometown crowd. However, Randall admitted he was not the best that day, especially showing humility and commitment to a better performance. At the same time, the problems with Bocachica did not end, and for the fifth fight in a row, he lost, so people began to doubt his further participation in boxing. Anticipating another fight in December from Randall, the welterweight division is not expecting to be out of action.
