Quinshon Judkins

Quinshon Judkins starred as Ohio State’s football team overcame a sluggish start to defeat Marshall 49-14. Judkins had 173 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Ohio State was idle last week, so the team-wide slow start was expected. If Ohio State plays like this against better competition they will be in trouble. In this article, some of the notable performances from the game are reviewed. These are all offensive highlights as Ohio State used big plays to propel itself to the win. This article will mention some familiar names.

Quinshon Judkins

Transfer Running Back Quinshon Judkins was the star of the game. He broke an 86-yard run for Ohio States’s much-needed third score of the game, making the score 21-7. It was the third longest run of Ohio State’s history. Quinshon Judkins had 173 yards and two touchdowns. That gave the Ohio State star 336 yards and five touchdowns on the season. After three games, he has two one-hundred-yard games this season.

Treyvon Henderson

Treyvon Henderson teamed with Quinshon Judkins and had a great game himself. He rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns of his own. The two form a two-headed monster at running back for Ohio State. For the season Henderson has those two touchdowns and is averaging a gaudy 7.6 yards per carry.

Emeka Ebuka

Emeka Egbuka also starred for Ohio State. After Marshall took a shocking 7-0 lead (the first touchdown the Ohio State defense had surrendered this year) Ebuka took a screen reception and turned it into a 68-yard touchdown. Ebuka, the senior leader, has 10 catches for 217 yards in 2024. That was the first touchdown of the year for the star receiver. He may be the best wide receiver in the nation. He teamed with Quinshon Judkins to form a deadly big-play combination against Marshall.

Jeremiah Smith

Freshman Jeremiah Smith had a slow start, he was outfought by a much smaller cornerback who got a first-quarter interception. Smith recovered to score on a long 53-yard catch and run touchdown.  He had three catches for 70 yards and that touchdown.  For the season, the fantastic freshman has 11 catches for 211 yards and three touchdowns.  He is off to a great start to his career.

Scoring Summary

The game was tied seven to seven after the first quarter. Then Ohio State used big offensive plays to cruise to a 49-14 victory. Marshall scored first to take a 7 – 0 lead. The offensive score was the first touchdown the Ohio State defense had given up all year. Ebuka then scored his long touchdown to score 7 to 7. Will Howard had a one-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-7

Then Quinshon Judkins had his long touchdown run to give Ohio State a 21 – 7 lead. Marshall scored an acrobatic touchdown with six seconds left in the first half. Ohio State led 28-14 at halftime. In the second half, Ohio State’s greater depth was on display. Ohio State scored three touchdowns in the second half. The scoring started with Henderson stammering for a 40-yard touchdown. That score gave Ohio State a 35-14 lead. Jeremiah Smith scored his 53-yard touchdown next, giving Ohio State a 42-14 lead.

Quinshon Judkins then added a second touchdown for the final score of the game, cementing Ohio State’s 49-14 victory.

Conclusion

This was a nice victory for Ohio State as they completed their nonconference schedule 3-0. They travel to Michigan State for a football game next Saturday.  The Spartans are also 3 – 0. If Ohio State starts this slowly against Michigan State on the road they are in trouble, regardless of their big play potential on offense.
