PSG Continue Ligue 1 Dominance With 3-1 Win over Rennes

PSG wins it 3-1 against Rennes

Paris Saint-Germain regained its good form with an outstanding show at Parc des Princes in Ligue 1, where it hammered Rennes by a 3-1 margin. The power of attack along with strategy only helped them win this match. PSG has not lost any league matches and is on the charts.

A Decisive Start

The match began with PSG trying to regain the dominance that they had lost gradually after some of their games in which their offense had crumbled under pressure. They were scoring an impressive 13 goals in just three matches at the start of the season, and fans were waiting for this form to kick in once again. Eventually, they broke the deadlock in the 30th minute after some missed chances. Ousmane Dembele had an excellent run, which he chipped in the ball to Bradley Barcola. The latter coolly went and put the ball into the net. From then on, the game was all set in motion.

Undoubtedly, the man of the match was Bradley Barcola. He scored the opener and then again later in the game. After Lee Kang-in’s shot rebounded off the woodwork, Barcola immediately followed up to hit home the rebound. And it could hardly get any easier than that, after scoring at the right place at the right time, PSG was good to win. With two goals, Barcola has proved he can step up to the pressure of a big match.

Team Effort

PSG’s game was completely a team play. After Barcola’s second goal, Achraf Hakimi made an accurate pass to Barcola and let him finish the play from close range. This third goal seemed it be almost over for Rennes. The coordination and teamwork shown by PSG were really good as they can really take on the field well together.

Although Rennes went down 3-0, they were not ready to give up. A penalty in the 75th minute was enough to bring Arnaud Kalimuendo closer to 3-1. This goal brought some life into the game and gave hope to the Rennes men. However, the pressure seemed too much for the Rennes defense, which only faltered very slightly under pressure but nothing more.

In a tale worth the dying-for game, Rennes nearly staged an epic comeback towards the dying minutes of the match via Alidu Seidu’s strike. However, his strike was ruled out as there was a handball in the build-up. This epitomized the fine margins of football-the rate at which things changed with a mere development in the game. PSG managed to avoid the tension of a dramatic end thanks to the decision of the referees.

Conclusion

Already, with this win, PSG reinforced themselves at the very top of Ligue 1, now three clear of their nearest pursuers, Olympique de Marseille and Monaco. In this match against Rennes, that means they are finally ready to give their best at the top of Ligue 1 to defend their title seriously. A player like Barcola makes fans feel optimistic about this season. PSG will look to maintain this streak by winning more games in the upcoming matches.
