PSG is one of the best teams in Europe – and they are based in Paris, France, exactly where the 2024 Olympics will be held. There is no doubt players at Paris Saint Germain would be thinking about the hype surrounding this prestigious international competition. Whether the squad members are considering representing France for a home Olympics, or they want to return to their national team to train ahead of time, the Olympics this summer are on every sportsperson’s mind.

And the same goes for one of the most prolific goal scorers to ever grace the game of football. Check it out.

PSG Superstar Wants to Represent Home Country at Paris Olympics

Kylian Mbappe, the star winger and striker at PSG, has made it known to his future coaches, teammates, and fans that his goal is to play in the 2024 Summer Olympics in France. Although his upcoming move to La Liga to play for the Spanish giants Real Madrid could throw a wrench in the occasion, he has been extremely vocal about wanting to represent his country in the competition.

Mbappe is in the process of playing his final games for PSG and leaving the Parisian club after a long-term stint of seven years – a time that is way more than most people expected. Mbappe is one of the best players in the world, with some saying he should have left PSG earlier to go to a more competitive league.

Now, he is moving to Real Madrid to try and win the Champions League, win La Liga, and train with some of the top players in the world, like Modric and Kroos.

And France would be extremely grateful and lucky to have him. There is no doubt that Mbappe is a crucial piece of the puzzle for the French national team, as the winger scored a hat trick in the World Cup final two years ago to propel them into the later rounds. Without Mbappe, France’s forward threat is greatly diminished.

PSG Player Might be Unavailable for Selection

Thierry Henry, the ex-Arsenal legend and one of the best of all time, is the current U21 manager for the French national team. He hopes that Mbappe will be available for the full-team selection come the summer, but knows that might not be the case.

‘I haven’t spoken to him directly about the Olympic situation. I’ve been calling players, as you would know. I will keep that to myself, obviously. But Kylian went on TV the other day and said himself that he would like to play them. Nobody here would not want to have Kylian Mbappe in this team, that’s just crazy. But he also said – and I’m aware of that – that it will depend on the team.’

There’s one thing we know for sure – the French national team needs Kylian Mbappe. Just like PSG has relied on Mbappe for the last seven years to win trophies, the national team does as well. Mbappe is a goal-scoring machine who uses his pace, technical ability, and wit to get around defenders in just a few steps.

Hopefully, his new club at Real Madrid will allow for the international superstar to part ways with his club for just a few weeks during the summer Olympics in Paris.
