PSG were not able to send off Mbappe in style for his last home game in Paris as they suffered an embarrassing loss to Toulouse at their home ground. Instead of the fairytale ending of Mbappe scoring at the Parc des Princes, being sent off in style, and lauded as the hero that PSG sees him as, they suffered a dramatic 3-1 defeat to a much lower team.
PSG vs. Toulouse – How it Happened
There was so much hype and anticipation surrounding Mbappe’s last game at the Parc des Princes, as the club would send off a legend in style and give him one more chance to nab three points before going to Real Madrid. But, sometimes dreams are just that – dreams. And reality is much different.
Mbappe was booed by large sections of the home ground fans as he took the field to play for his club for the final time. Although he has been a ‘loyal servant’ of the Parisian club for almost his entire career, the fanbase still finds it acceptable to boo a hardworking and dedicated player who has scored numerous goals for their club.
Mbappe even opened the scoring for PSG in the beginning of the game, sending his team 1-0 up – and then everything came crashing down. Luis Enrique is partially to blame as well, as he included Mbappe in the starting 11 – finally – but surrounded him with players who have had very limited minutes the entire season. So Mbappe was playing with, essentially, the second-rate PSG team.
After Mbappe scored in the 8th minute, Toulouse quickly responded in the 13th minute with a goal from Dallinga. Then, after 50 minutes of a tense battle, Gboho and Magri added key goals in the second half to drive home the nail in the coffin.
Mbappe was part of 15 shots and 3 on target for PSG, whereas Toulouse had 18 shots and 5 on target. PSG dominated possession with 64% and strung together over 650 passes, but it didn’t matter – Toulouse had more attacking opportunities and buried three out of their five shots on frame.

PSG didn’t even do anything to commemorate such a key player at their club. The years of scoring dozens of goals, stringing together perfect passes, scoring in huge games like Champions League matches and domestic league finals, and truly carrying the team on his back led PSG to do nothing for his send-off. This makes everyone see just how bitter Paris Saint Germain is about Mbappe leaving for the Spanish La Liga giants, Real Madrid.
The club didn’t do anything for the coveted striker who has scored a whopping 256 goals in his 306 appearances for the club. The only act of service that PSG did for Mbappe to show their ‘appreciation’ was a lackluster trophy presentation, light show, and PSG shirts with Mbappe’s name – but nothing specifically for the unbelievable winger who has been a stalwart at the club.
Hopefully, Mbappe can put this time at PSG behind him and move on to greener pastures at Real Madrid. If that club continues like they normally do, we can see him helping them to win more La Liga trophies and a Champions League trophy during his tenure at the club.
