The Premier League ended dramatically last year, with Manchester City clawing their way back from behind (per usual) to win the league – again. Arsenal FC looked like they had a chance to secure a surprising victory in the Premier League after being the first place on the ladder for so long, but City had a game in hand – and didn’t falter at the end of the year.
Liverpool let their title hopes drift away as they lost key games that they should have put away, like the unbelievable zero-point game against Crystal Palace. Other teams that people thought would rank higher, like Chelsea, finished outside of the top five spots and left people wondering – what is going to happen this year?
Let’s see a few predictions of how teams will perform this year based on last season, off-season training, transfers, and coaching changes.
Premier League Top Four Predictions
Based on current playing style, roster, and transfers, many pundits and commentators believe the top four will include: Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool or Aston Villa.
Some pundits think that Tottenham improved so much this season from the prior that they have a chance to do even better in 2024, providing they get favorable off-season transfers and continue to play the energetic and tactical style that Postecoglou provides.
Others think that Liverpool might have a chance to rebuild and regroup after Jurgen Klopp’s departure, which would involve Arne Slot coming into the team and creating a new playing style that could fit with the current squad list.
Newcastle United also has a chance of finishing inside of the top four after a fantastic season this year, especially if they can avoid injury and stay fit for the entirety of the season.
Almost everyone agrees that Manchester City and Arsenal FC will make the top four, especially since City will have fewer injury issues, Pep will remain at the club, Arteta has made a huge difference in Arsenal’s playing style and tactical decisions, and they continuously scored goals this past year.
Premier League Surprise Guesses
There are a few teams in the league that would surprise the fans and other players by doing well – unexpectedly.
Bournemouth could potentially perform well in the 2024-2025 season under Andoni Iraola. Iraola managed to keep Bournemouth in the Premier League against all odds this past year, especially since he did so with a depleted squad that did not include the majority of the big-anime summer signings.
Another team that could shock viewers is Brentford. Brentford dropped to 16th place last season due to an overwhelming injury issue that plagued the team, but with Ivan Toney back in the team, in full fitness, and Schade available for selection, they could get back into the top ten in the Premier League.
Finally, Crystal Palace could end up in the top six or seven spots this upcoming year. They bested teams like Liverpool FC and toppled the top-three teams a few times this past season, surprising fans and shocking other coaches who noted their change in playing style. They are on an upward trajectory under the new coach, Glasner, so they are a team to keep an eye on.
Will Manchester City win the treble again, or will a new team take over as Premier League champions? Only time will tell.
