Premier League’s Nominees For Young Player Of The Year Award Includes Special Talents

Today, the Premier League released its list of nominees for the most prestigious awards of the season: the Young Player of the Season, the Player of the Season, and the Manager of the Season awards.

The nominees for the Young Player of the Season award all play for the clubs currently in the top eight spots on the league table. Manchester City produced two nominees while Tottenham, Manchester United, Newcastle, and Arsenal all produced one each.

The Premier League Young Player of the Season award is given to players who started the season from the 1st of July at the age of 21 or younger, regardless of whether they finish the season older than 21.

The Premier League Nominees From Manchester

Nominated for the coveted award this season is Manchester City’s Phil Foden after previously winning the award in the 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons consistently. The attacker has played a prominent role in City’s title chase, being involved in a total of 24 goals this season.

Also from the blue half of Manchester, Erling Haaland has been nominated for the award he won last season. The prolific Manchester City striker leads the scoring charts with 25 goals in 28 appearances in the league.

From the red side of Manchester, Kobbie Mainoo has been nominated by Manchester United. The 19-year-old got and took with both hands, his first big break this season and has since then, established himself as both a starter for the Manchester side and a shining light for England’s future on the international stage.

Chelsea’s £40 Million Premier League Hero

Chelsea bought Cole Palmer for £40 million on the final day of the 2023 summer transfer window. The player didn’t break into the first team immediately but as soon as he did, it was obvious he was one to look out for.

He scored his first goal of the league season against his Chelsea’s London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, in a fiery 4-1 victory in the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

After that, he scored against his former club in what could prove to be one of the most fascinating Premier League games of all time. He has been a big game player for the London club and against Everton, joined a short list of Premier League giants to score five goals in a single game.

He joined the illustrious squad of the players to score 16 goals at home for Chelsea, a Premier League for the club, which includes Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.

Among players aged 21 or younger, he’s only the third player in history to be involved in 30+ goals in a single season in the league since Robbie Fowler and Chris Sutton.

From Arsenal, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba have been nominated. Saka has been involved in 25 goals this season, 16 of them goals that have been instrumental to his team’s title aspirations, while the rest have been assists.

William Saliba has also been instrumental in the club’s 17 clean sheets this season. The club has also conceded the least goals this season (28). He has also played every single minute in the league for the club this season.

Also from London is Destiny Udogie who plays for Tottenham Hotspur. Although he got injured in April, he had impressively played most of the season. He has featured for Tottenham as an attacking inverted left-back and has been involved in five goals all season.

Rounding up the list is Alexander Isak from Newcastle. Isak is the first striker for Newcastle since Alan Shearer to score 20+ goals in a season for the club. He’s scored 21 goals for the club in 27 appearances. This is his second nomination for the award.
