Manchester City winning four in a row

Let’s start with the most recent record made in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s men became the first team to win four Premier League titles in 2024. The Spaniard entered the English league after developing a great reputation in Barcelona and Bayern Munich. However, his Manchester City side is easily the best domestic team performing throughout his career.

Arsenal came extremely close to winning the Premier League title last season, and they will go again this season. However, their most recent league title in 2004 was more than just historic. The Gunners became the first Premier League side to be unbeaten for the entire campaign. Arsenal leapfrogged Manchester United to win their third Premier League title under Arsene Wenger.

For Wenger, this is arguably the greatest achievement of his career. The Frenchman said on the opening day that his team would go the entire season without a single Premier League defeat, but the media mocked his statement. Once he completed the accomplishment, he created a customized shirt with his quote to inform the world about his achievement. Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 49 matches in the 2004/05 season before being controversially beaten by Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Leicester City’s 2015/16 Premier League title

Leicester City’s Premier League title story will be a ‘once in a lifetime’ milestone, which a minnow may never replicate. The Foxes, under Claudio Ranieri, won their first Premier League title in the 2015/16 season, holding off Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Leicester City lost to Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates, which seemed to have halted their title pursuit. However, the lack of consistency from the Gunners and Tottenham Hotspur and the will of Leicester was enough to get them over the line.

Many players stood out in their title-winning run. Jamie Vardy was the obvious name, who broke Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record of most consecutive Premier League games on the scoresheet. He achieved the milestone with his goal against Manchester United in November 2015. Moreover, N’Golo Kante was a rock in midfield, standing out with his top defensive midfield attributes. Ironically, he joined Chelsea in the summer and took them from 10th to first in the following season. The biggest dilemma about this historic achievement was that Ranieri was sacked only six months after his Premier League title win.
