San Antonio Spurs Point Guard Chris Paul is showing no signs of slowing down in his 20th NBA season. He is as good of a playmaker as he ever was. Paul has more assists this season, 574, in his 20th season than the second and third players combined. The second and third players are NBA legends LeBron James and Kobe Bryant respectively.
The “Point God” as he is affectionately referred to is not the scorer he once was. Paul is averaging a career-low 8.8 points per game. He is still seventh in the league assists playing just over 28 points per game. Will the Hall of Fame point guard finish what could be his final NBA games on a high note?

He has a credible argument to be considered the best point guard in NBA history. He is second all-time in assists behind John Stockton. Paul is a 12-time NBA All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection, 9 All-Defense Teams, 6-time steal leader, and has led the NBA in assists five times during his illustrious career.
Paul’s NBA career has included stints with the New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and San Antonio Spurs. The only glaring hole in his NBA resume is no NBA title.
His lone NBA Finals appearance came in 2021 with the Phoenix Suns. They went on to lose in six games to the Milwaukee Bucks. The star point guard acquitted himself well in that series. Paul has been a winner wherever he has gone. Each team has improved with CP3 on its squad. The 2024-2025 San Antonio Spurs, with a .421 winning percentage, will continue that two-decade trend.
Final Thoughts
If Paul decides to hang up his shoes in a few weeks, his performance this season is a fitting end to the career of one of the best players in NBA history. Too few all-time greats get to retire while they are still playing at a high level. CP3 will face a huge decision this offseason.
